Nba salary is such a fucking mess of rules compounded upon rules. Ive got enough spectrum nerdness that i like reading a story twice a year about how some middling player was given a rube goldberg machine of a contract so they can pull off silly trade loopholes but its just a disaster for team building

good.

the league needs to move away from the idea that wealthy owners can just pay the tax in order to win titles. we need more parity in the league.
it’s not even that tbh

I had completely forgotten some of the details about the new CBA because they have been rolling them out season over season so we don’t end up with what happened with Kevin Durant a couple seasons back. here’s a b/r article about the second apron

Teams that go above the second apron (projected to be $189.5 million) face all of the same restrictions as first-apron teams, along with the following:

  • No access to any mid-level exception in free agency
  • Can't aggregate contracts in trades
  • Can't send cash in trades
  • Can't acquire players when they sign-and-trade their own free agents elsewhere
  • Can't trade a first-round pick seven years in the future, and that pick falls to the bottom of the first round if a team is over the second apron at least twice in a four-season span
basically going over the hard cap = your FRP is automatically the last pick in the draft, lmao who came up with this shit

It’s too much

it legit is that

it penalizes teams HEAVILY that try and game the system because in the past they've been able to just pay an outlandish tax bill. yeah it goes too far in some cases and its going to cause some major issues this year and for the next few years, but the nba will reset like it always does. when the cap spiked in 2016 and role players were getting massive deals, that caused major problems for a few years but teams reset. cycle of chaos baby. im all for it.

Just do a hard cap with no player limit and let the cards fall where they may.
this honestly

Silver is so fucking stupid. This league’s greatest strength is player movement drama and they decide to cap and restrict it.

Remember when PG shunded the lakers because of a Nas Concert? When there were earthquakes then the next day Kawhi said he's going to the Clippers? The Decision? KD + Kyrie to the Nets? Adam Levine crying for LaMarcus? When we thought TD was going to the Magic with Tmac?

FA used to be drama filled, now nothing is happening. No one can afford shit.

The off season was more entertaining than the actual season. Silver is fucking trash

I remember that LA took a meeting but no one talked about basketball. Like how he's be used, schemes etc. Jim just talked about the Brand.

Aldridge was like wtf is this shit, and then jim was like wait come back and let us try again.
That loser thought he was smarter than West.
