Things Watch Dogs 2 Doesn't Tell You
This page contains tips, tricks and hints that the in-line tutorials of Watch Dogs 2 fail to provide.
No Rules
Unlike its predecessor, Watch Dogs 2 doesn't feature a morality system - meaning that aside from potential run-ins with the police, there are no penalties for acting aggressively towards police or civilians.
Download a Car
While players of the original Watch_Dogs will remember the Car on Demand app, there's no indicator that it returns in WD2. You can order cars you’ve purchased or unlocked from the Car on Demand App, and they'll appear on the street nearby.
Fists of Fury
You will not have the police called on you for attacking civilians with melee - only if you use firearms or explosives. This doesn’t mean your notoriety will not increase, however - if you get two or three “!”s you may still alert the police.
Fast Travel
Instead of requiring players to unlock new safe houses to quickly get around San Francisco, Marcus can fast-travel between any shop around the Bay area.
Steal Bikes Not Cars
Until you unlock the Hijacker ability that allows you to remotely disable car alarms, consider instead not stealing cars, but motorcycles and scooters instead.
Motorcycles and scooters are far less likely to have alarms installed, meaning you're less likely to get harassed by the local police.
New Toys Cost Money
The only thing stopping you from unlocking the Quad Copter is your bank account. Unlike the RC Jumper which is automatically unlocked during an early story mission, Marcus doesn't have to wait for a story moment to pick up the flying QuadCopter drone - he just needs to dump ~$60,000 into the 3D printer in the DedSec HQ.
Hack All Humans
Side operations are unlocked by finding operation intel around the city, then hacking those sources to reveal a mission. When in a new area, swap to NetHack view and look for an orange marker, indicating valuable intel.
Distract Your Enemies
Regardless of your playstyle, one of the easiest ways to get to your objectives is by creating a distraction. You can use your drones, but calling in a gang hit or the police is far more effective since they can hold the enemy's' attention longer. Be careful not to hurt the gang members that are helping you, though! If you do that gang will come after you.
Tasered and Stunned Enemies Get Up
Although this may seem like common sense, it's easy to slip up during a mission and forget. Any enemy who is knocked unconscious will eventually get back up. These enemies have Zs next to them, indicating they are only temporarily knocked down. After a few minutes, or if someone wakes them, they can stand back up and go back to patrolling or running away.
Double Tapping Will Auto Hack
Although not true for all situations, double tapping the Hack button on your phone will automatically hack the indicated target. This is particularly handy when driving around, as it can be tough to drive at high speeds and accurately hack objects. The only downside to quick hacking, is that the effect it triggers will be random, so you'll just have to roll with whatever outcome you get.
More than one Hq
DedSec is a big organization, and that means that they've got multiple hideouts. You'll need to head to the one in the Mission for most objectives, but you can also visit the headquarters in Silicon Valley and Oakland to use the 3D printer, rest, change your clothes, and more.
