Platforming and Wall-Running Guide
One of the ways The Rogue Prince of Persia stands out from other roguelike 2D platformers is with its traversal system. The new take on the series takes inspiration from the franchise's past in games like The Sands of Time, and adapts the wall-running prince's moveset to a new genre. Here's all of the Prince's platforming techniques, and how to use them best.
The Rogue Prince of Persia Platforming Skills
The Prince can scale walls and jump off of them. To scale a wall, jump into it. The Prince will do a brief run, and be able to jump off for an extra boost of height as well.
You can also vault over enemies in the heat of battle by pressing B (or your controller's equivalent). This vault technique even works on bosses! Use it when an enemy is priming an attack to surprise them and get the upper hand.
The meat and potatoes of The Rogue Prince of Persia's platforming, though, is the wall-running. If you hold left trigger (or your controller's equivalent) and the left stick in any direction against a background wall, you can shortly run against a wall to gain some extra horizontal or vertical distance, and jump at the end of a run for even more distance. You can use this to make some long jumps, or scale climbs that may seem too high to summit. After a run, you can keep holding left trigger to slow your descent. This can be useful to give you some time to make quick decisions with a larger window for them.
To make the most out of wall-running, you can combine it with your other techniques. You can only wall-run once before needing to refresh it which you can do in two ways: landing or wall-jumping. By combining wall-running with a wall jump, as long as there's a surface in the background, you can keep climbing.
By combining these skills, you can get to places that may even seem inaccessible! Use all of these parkour actions in tandem and try to break the limits of the game. You never know where a reward might be waiting for you!
