Playing as The Hunters
- Stick together - similar to Left 4 Dead, you are strongest when fighting as a team. Even with two hunters, the monster can be too much to handle. Wildlife can also kill a lone hunter by pinning them down - so stay close and communicate!
- As you become more used to the game and play with good teammates, you can try splitting into groups of two to take down wildlife and increase chances of finding the monster.
- Utilize the Jetpack. Every hunter has one and it allows you to scale cliffs and walls, and even avoid nasty attacks. Jetpacks have limited fuel, so use it where it counts. You can also double tap your jetpack button to expend additional fuel for a short boost in any direction - perfect for dodging attacks in the air.
- Don’t spend all your time killing wildlife. For the most part, killing wildlife does not help hunters (except for elite wildlife that can buff the hunters upon death) and you’ll be giving the monster free food.
- Utilize different methods of tracking to find the monster. Footprints, startled birds, Daisy the the trapjaw, broken foliage or trees - all these can help lead you to the monster's location.
- Make sure your team is ready before engaging the monster. If the monster hasn’t seen you, gunfire may cause him to rapidly escape and you’ll have to hunt him all over again. Make sure your team is ready and your trapper can deploy the mobile arena to block him from escaping before you give the order to charge.
- Unlock new Hunters by becoming proficient in their abilities. Once you've gained a solid star in each ability (not including class ability) the next tier hunter will be unlocked.
- Use different class abilities together in conjunction to create devastating combos. For example, comboing the mobile arena, harpoons, and tranq gun can keep the monster in one place and unable to escape as easily.
- Show, don't tell! Instead of saying "over there", you can ping the environment/wildlife/monster by pressing in on the right control stick. Yellow pings mean you've targeted an area, orange for wildlife, and red for the monster.
- Use communication between harpoon trapper and hank to time orbital barrage with the monster walking into a harpooned area.
- When playing as a high priority target (Lazarus, Hank, Val etc) communicate with your team about creating kiting zones eg. Markovs mines, Maggies harpoon traps, Buckets turrets. By running through these areas when being focused by the monster as a high priority hunter target, the monster will be punished for chasing.
- As the trapper it will become necessary to cut off skilled monster players, so hanging back while your team flushes the monster out of a corner will allow you to get a good cut off on the monsters escape points.
- Many monster abilities are area of effect. Avoiding being grouped together when the monster is ready to cast one of these abilities will prevent unnecessary damage.
- When the monster has scored one/two kills on the hunters you need to calculate your chances of killing the monster right there or not, if not try to split up and head in different directions, attempting to buy time for your team mates to respawn.
- When trying to track the monster a tactic used by Dev's is too split into two groups, assault/medic and trapper/support. The theory is that the assault/medic combo chases the monster directly and uses their fire power to engage the monster or push it in a direction, and the trapper/support combo cuts of the monsters retreat, using the supports cloaking feild so the trapper can land an undetected mobile arena.
- When the monster is in combat with the hunters its stamina bar recharges faster allowing it to traverse more frequently, so consider not dealing damage to the monster when it is at great distance, to prevent it from having the traverse abilities to gain even further distance.
Playing as the Monster
- Clicking on the right stick works for the monster too. Doing so lets you "smell the area" for nearby wildlife and threats
- Your armor's importance cannot be overstated. If your armor has been depleted, that means any damage you take will not regenerate, wounding you permananetly. Make sure to gain more armor by feeding on wildlife, and when attacking hunters, have an escape plan when your armor starts to fall.
- Find a safe place to evolve. You'll be vulnerable to attack when evolving, so make sure the hunters are off your trail, and you aren't in the middle of a clearing.
- When caught in the mobile arena target the Trapper immediately to escape the arena.
- When in combat with the hunters target the medic first and and keep other hunters from reviving them, this keeps all downed hunters from being revived easily.
- Leave tracks in one direction, and stealth backtrack to lead hunters off your trail.
- Try leaving tracks towards dangerous wildlife and hide nearby, forcing hunters to kill the creature. When they resume tracking you you can eat the body without risk of losing armour or health.
- Armor is a resource bar, utilizing its effectiveness to the fullest means taking a fight before evolving, though that may not always be the best action.
- When fighting against Lazarus try to focus him, focusing his team mates will result in him reviving them with no permanent penalty to their health. One tactic to this is to down one of his team mates in the open. Another tactic is to bait out his personal cloaking, disengage, then reengage when he reappears and it is on cooldown.
- Separating hunters from their team mates line of sight allows you to focus them down without them receiving healing or shielding and will prevent their team mates from doing damage to you while you focus.
- Try to remember where on the map you have spent a lot of time feeding, if you go back to that area when the hunters are in hot pursuit will mean the food resources are depleted.
Playing as The Goliath
- When in combat with the hunters, try using leap smash in combination with charge for devastating effects.
- When using rock throw, hold on to it until the hunters waste the jetpack fuel to get an accurate hit.
Playing as The Kraken
- If the hunters are following you place banshee mines along walls or above cliffs to keep them distracted, or use vortex to push them back.
- When caught in the mobile arena, keep airborne as much as possible to avoid losing much armour or health.
- Use banshee mines on wildlife to kill them quickly.
Playing as Cabot
- Cabot can tag monsters with dust tagging. With the ability to track the monster, you can follow up with his rail cannon to shoot through objects straight into the monster.
- Cabot's damage amp can let his teammates to additional damage. This works well with everyone, but especially well with hunter abilities like Parnell's Super Soldier ability.

Playing as Parnell
- Communicate with your Medic to know when you're going to sacrifice health with Parnell's Super Soldier ability.
Playing as Abe
- Abe's tracking dart can track the Monster not just by hitting it, but even by tagging wildlife that gets eaten by the Monster.
Playing As Griffin
MAKE SURE YOU'RE ALWAYS PLACING SOUND SPIKES WHILE ON THE MONTER'S TRAIL. cHECK THE MINIMAP TO MAKE SURE THE SOUND SPIKES DON'T OVERLAP, OVERLAPPPING SOUND SPIKES JUST WASTES THEM.
- use your harpoon gun to keep the monster from getting away. there's no need to use it when he's right in front of you. you can also use it when you're pretty far away from him in a fight, and he's trying to attack a specific hunter.
Playing as Caira

- Know when to change your grenade launcher's cartridge from damage dealing to healing.
- Since the grenades can heal, you can drop them at your feet or near a group of allies to heal them - direct hits not required.
Playing as The Wraith
- When fleeing from hunters, you can quickly turn around and launch a decoy. Since the decoy will go in a line off in the direction you were looking, you can keep heading away while the decoy charges them.
- Utilize the Wraith's abduction ability to pull a hunter away from their companions. This also works on downed hunters, snatching them away as others try and revive the downed hunter.
- Use the decoy to take on wildlife without fear of losing health. This will let you evolve much faster as you can take more risks.
