Pursuit List
Pursuits are best described as Quests that are offered by many of the inhabitants that can be found around the regions of Dredge. There are seven Main Pursuits that must be completed in order to progress with the story, along with nine Optional Pursuits and four Timed Pursuits that each offer unique rewards. This guide details everything you need to know about how to best complete each pursuit, where they can be found, and the rewards they unlock.
Main Pursuits
Throughout the main campaign, you'll encounter seven mandatory pursuits that you must complete in order to progress in the story:
Optional Pursuits
Optional Pursuits have no bearing on the main story, nor do they affect your ability to progress. They do, however, award various useful items such as books or research parts, so it is highly recommended that you complete these pursuits as you encounter them.

Caught to Order
Tasks | Rewards | Location |
---|---|---|
| 2 Research Parts Access to Crab Pots The value of the sold fish | Greater Marrow |
This is one of the first pursuits you'll be offered, and you'll receive it automatically while paying off your debt in Greater Marrow. It's basically a lesson on fish catching in the area and is quite easy if you know where you're going. Greater Marrow is a small area, but if you need some help finding each fish, our Fishing List and Location guide will be able to help!
Each visit to the Fishmonger will reward you with the value of the fish as well as Crab Pots when asked to go Pot fishing. Completing the Pursuit will also reward you with 2 Research Parts.
Packaged Delivery
Package feels quite dense and... damp? Something is seeping through the paper. Curious, but I won't open it."
Tasks | Rewards | Location |
---|---|---|
| The "Sustainable Fishing" Book $25.00 | Greater Marrow |
This Pursuit will ask you to go across the Bay to Little Marrow. There's not much to it other than showing you that the world is yours to explore.
Once complete, you'll also likely be given your first book during Sustainable Fishing.
A Place to Rest
Asked if I would bring materials to Steel Point - an island to the North - so they could build a house there. I'm sure I can dredge up something. There's good wood in some of the wrecks."
Tasks | Rewards | Location |
---|---|---|
| 2 Research Parts The "Engineer's Companion" Book after returning to The Builder | Greater Marrow |
Once you receive access to Dredging from The Collector, you will be able to help The Builder move out of Greater Marrow. This Pursuit just asks you to dredge some Lumber and Scrap, which you can find in Dredging points all around the world, and put them at Steel Point. At this point, Lumber and Scrap may feel in high demand due to upgrades from the Shipwright, but the rewards from this Pursuit are well worth it.
Once complete, The Builder gives you 2 Research Parts as well as the Engineer's Companion Book once she's set up.
Lost at Sea
Wants me to try looking for his son's personal effects - mentioned an engraved belt buckle.
I should check the nearby wrecks around the isle."
Tasks | Rewards | Location |
---|---|---|
| 1 Research Part if you return the buckle OR $80 if you sell the Buckle | Little Marrow |
After receiving the ability to Dredge, the Grieving Father will ask you to find his son's personal effects. The Dredging location is at L8, right behind Little Marrow. We highly recommend you return the Belt Buckle rather than sell it, as the Research Part is much more valuable than the quick money.
Craven Courier
He needed a package delivering to the Dockworker of Little Marrow, so I offered to take it. He gave me a book for my troubles."
Tasks | Rewards | Location |
---|---|---|
| The "Getting Over It With Body and Mind" Book | Island between The Marrows and Twisted Strand at I10 |
Finding the Craven Courier is the only real part you have to do for this Pursuit. Once you locate them at I10 on the map, they'll hand you a package and The Getting Over It With Body and Mind Book, mentioning things in the water. All you're to do is take the package to Little Marrow.
The Dockworker has nothing to say to you once you deliver the package, nor do they have any rewards for you, so the book you get from the Courier is the only reward you'll have.
Castaway
He needs passage to Little Marrow."
Tasks | Rewards | Location |
---|---|---|
| Signet Ring Trinket | Steel Point at L10 |
Like the Craven Courier Pursuit, the most difficult part of this Pursuit is finding the Castaway. Once you find them, you'll have to take them back to Little Marrow. They're 3x2 in size that you'll need to fit in your cargo.
Once you've taken the Castaway to Little Marrow, they'll give you a Signet Ring for your troubles, which can be sold for $90.00 at the Trader.

Best Before
Once I catch one, I should be able to just hold on to it for a while, they start to rot pretty quick out in the sun.

Conger Eels can be found at the line between P4 and P5 at night and should rot naturally overtime if you keep it in your cargo. Once you give her the Eel, the woman will give you $150.00.

It's bound to be hungry."
Tasks | Rewards | Location |
---|---|---|
| Sapphire Ring Trinket | Stellar Basin at F2 |
Like other Pursuits that have Pursuit givers that are located in odd places, once you find the Dog you'll be set to take it back to the Old Fortress. Before you're able to do that though, you need to calm the dog down by doing the actions in the followin order:
- Throw some fish toward the dog.
- Slowly approach.
- Call for the dog.
- Hold out some fish in your hand.
- Pat the dog. (x2)
- Leave.
Once you begin to leave, the dog will approach you and you'll take it on board to find it a home. the dog is 2x2 and you'll need to fit it into your cargo before taking it to the Old Fortress.
Once you take it to the Old Fortress, the Researcher will take it in, and the dog will spit out a Sapphire Ring it's been holding on to ask thanks. The Ring can be sold for $45.00 at the Trader.
Stone Tablets

| Fused Tablet
Flame of the Sky Lights after unlocking the Ancient Lighthouse | Dredge a Stone Tablet in Devil's Spine at N14, Q13, or P13 |
This Pursuit is a little less straightforward than the others. While exploring the Devil's Spine, you may find shining Dredging spots at either N14, Q13, or P13 that hold a Stone Tablet. After dredging it, you'll immediately be given a Pursuit to take the Tablet to the Trader in Little Marrow for appraisal. If you'd like, you can Dredge all three tablets at once before heading over to save some time.
Once you take them all to the Trader, he'll give you a Fused Tablet. While the use for the Fused Tablet may feel unknown, if you head over to the Ancient Ruins in Devil's Spine, you'll be able to unlock the Ancient Lighthouse, which awards you with the extremely valuable Flame of the Sky Light for your boat, which is the strongest light in the game.
