In this explosive, action-packed thriller, veteran cop Mappy (Mappy the Mouse, as himself) has come a long way from the tough city arcade of his childhood.  Mappy escaped to become a cop, but after a long and decorated career as a police officer, he now drowns the demons of his past at the local bar.

Then Mappy's life changes forever when a ruthless psychotic killer murders his oldest friend in cold blood.  Hired to solve the case by his friend’s widow (Academy Award®-nominee Ms. Pac-Man, as herself) Mappy begins an investigation that will take him into the seedy underbelly of the arcade, where everyone is a potential suspect.  To defeat the killer, the two must work together as Mappy scours the worlds of Paperboy, Gauntlet, Burgertime, and Bubble Bobble, piecing together the clues to solve the case.

As they close in on the truth, Mappy and Ms. Pac set in motion events pitting them against the murderer in a terrifying confrontation that will leave one of them victorious - and only one of them left alive.

Passed this game completely on the streamer. In my opinion, this is the best free game for NES of this year.

🙌 amazing thank you!

What a fun and amazing game idea for the NES- a Murder Mystery using classic NES characters and scenes! I've just finished it and had a blast. I've recommended it to all my retro-enthusiast friends :)

BTW, I'm not sure what happened with the boulder bit as I didn't see anything moving it. Maybe some expose would help? (yes I'm dumb and it's likely it just went right over my head).  Or maybe it was a technical limitation and there was no more room for assets. Or maybe it was that 8 sprites per scanline limit ;)

Nice glad you liked it 😎

For the boulder bit... Let's see, best way to explain it without spoilers?  I would say give the original game featuring the antagonist a try... I was doing my best to copy that, maybe not so successfully 👀

Yep I can see it now!

I can tell you there aren’t very many games I’ve beaten in my life and yours is one of them. I mean, it’s not super long as games go but in the world of ADHD gaming it’s an impressive feat. Again, thanks!

high praise thank you!!! 🙌 turns out an RPG without battles can be beaten in a single sitting who knew? 🤣

Ah, a man of culture!

Just got to finishing up the story.  It was so much longer than I expected when I first jumped in.  That was absolutely amazing.  So many references and cameos - I loved it.  I didn't realize there was an unused track in the NES game that you put to use in here a few times - neat!

Also - you probably know, but Zophar's over on Twitch these days as Zophar1.  He's a really awesome dude.

Oh nice which track is the "hidden" one?  I have to admit I own Deja Vu but haven't actually played through it yet 👀

I'll def check out Zophar on Twitch his website is such an epic resource

...and really glad you liked the game 😎

wish i could speed up dialogue. 2nd grade reading level speed

Yeah the game engine is still work in progress and I haven't added that feature yet, hope you still enjoyed!

Played it on original hardware, enjoyed my time with this one. Great work on this game.

awesome... yes the game is fully compatible with the original NES, it uses a UNROM-512 mapper on original hardware so the flash carts from NESMaker/INL or Broke Studio will work...

really glad you enjoyed it!  had a lot of fun making it definitely

Great little story, clever premise, I enjoyed my playthrough

nice thanks a lot for trying it 👾
