The Kubaz were an insectoid sentient species that were native to the planet Kubindi. They lived on a diet of insects, using their long snout to snatch their prey from inside hives. This did not make them very popular with sentient insectoid species, such as the Geonosians,[6] despite the Kubaz themselves being descended from insects.[2] They had dark skin, long snouts, and sensitive eyesight causing them to require protective eyewear.[6] On the whole, their appearance resembled[1] that of the northern Mustafarians.[7] Kubaz were unable to pronounce the phonemes of Galactic Basic Standard, and their language was made of whirring syllables.[3]
At one time, the Kubaz wrote in a script which, by the High Republic Era, was remembered as Ancient Kubaz.[8] The Galactic Empire conquered the Kubaz species after claiming they could be allies. The Empire enslaved Kubaz and sought to brainwash others to make them into spies.[2]

One member of this species was Garindan ezz Zavor, an informant who worked for the highest bidder.[1] He had escaped Imperial brainwashing with his freewill intact and sought to liberate his species, even if it meant taking jobs from the Empire in the meantime.[2] Another was Ooblamon, a junk dealer from Taris who claimed to have recovered the red-bladed lightsaber that had belonged to Darth Vader.[10] Another Kubaz was Rikard Lovas, a male banker who regularly conducted business on the planet Jakku that fell into gambling debts owed to the Irving Boys.[11]
An unidentified Kubaz participated in the Rix Road riot in 5 BBY on Ferrix.[12]
Another unidentified member of the Kubaz worked as a ferryman on the ice planet Pagodon around 9 ABY.[13] Another was a bounty hunter who was after Grogu on Sorgan.[14]
