Synopsis[]
In his lab, Plankton is creating a "mayhem machine" to attack Krabs, only for him to get injured while working on it. Karen points out that he always struggles to invent, and reminds him that he has to give the campers their science badges today. Disinterested, Plankton looks at all the model volcanos and gives everyone their badge. Sandy shows a device that can make real volcanos, and the resulting destruction interests Plankton, so he hires her as his assistant.
Plankton takes Sandy to his lab, where she solves an incomplete math problem on his chalkboard, impressing him. Sandy also meets Karen, and they get along. Sandy gets to work on Plankton's mayhem machine, fixing all the mistakes he made. Plankton decides to let Sandy finish all the work while he relaxes.
Later, Plankton sees that Karen and Sandy have repainted the mayhem machine pink and floral-patterned, but they claim it still works. Plankton takes the machine outside and tests out the machine's sonic blaster, but it only plays country music, making everyone dance along. He tries to change the weather and make a blizzard, but only ends up creating an ice cream machine. He makes a tornado, but it only results in a spinning carnival ride that the campers enjoy. Sandy explains that she fixed the machine by making it safe, and she threw out all the evil components.
Plankton decides to at least try the doomsday countdown, which Sandy left implemented. Only then does she tell Plankton about the safety feature she added: making it rocket into the air before exploding, leaving Plankton trapped on it and caught in the resulting blast of fireworks. Karen gives Sandy a nut from the machine as a new science badge, and Plankton falls into the box of evil parts, triggering more fireworks.
