Intro to Crafting! Part 2: Skills Early Strat

III (Skills): There are many skills that benefit players that have different uses when crafting and gathering. These can include for crafting, increasing progress, quality, durability, success chance etc. For disciples of the land you can increase gathering chance, HQ (high quality) chance, and even add more attempts on a node. A good reference for skills is the website included in the beginning of this blog. The reason knowing the skills is important is because some skills can be used between different crafts, so utilizing all of these overlapping skills is highly useful, and will make your crafting experience much brighter!

IVa.(Strategies: What to level): The first thing I want to tell you is to level Weaver. Whether you are a cloth wearing battle class or not, weavers create crafting gear which is absolutely necessary when crafting. By crafting it yourself, you do not need to rely on purchasing, or quests to stay up to date on your crafting stats. Also leveling weaver to 15 unlocks careful synthesis which I personally believe crafting players should not go without. Careful synthesis allows players to add progress at a 100% chance success rate. This means if you only have 10 durability (1 action left) and you only need 1 successful synthesis, you will always complete the item. I will go into why this is important later, but it allows you to be the most efficient and predict your outcome much easier. Other crafts I would recommend leveling early are goldsmithing and blacksmithing. Goldsmiths are able to create accessories for crafting stats, as well as needles for your weaver. Blacksmiths create tools for virtually every other craft and the disciples of the land, which as you can imagine is very helpful if you intend on crafting often.

IVb.(Strategies: Why level multiple DoH) The reason most players benefit from leveling multiple disciples of the hand, besides what I stated above, is that many of the materials required for synthesis come from a different DoH than the one you're on. For example some equipment made from weaving also require materials from leatherworking and blacksmithing. Most of the time it is going to be easier and cost less for you to simply be able to make these materials yourself rather than have to purchase them, especially after level 20. Also the more skills you have from each DoH the more options you have when attempting to successfully create items or create HQ items.

Really like the blog, I'm new to mmo's in general and I just got into weaving today. Now I can see how big this game could potentially be. This answered some of the questions or things I wanted to know generally speaking about crafting. Kudos
