Dead by Daylight Eight Anniversary: Year 9 Roadmap, Dungeons & Dragons and Castlevania Collabs, and More Revealed

Dead by Daylight Update 3.16

Behaviour Interactive’s asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight is now entering its eight year, which is a lifetime in video game land. Thankfully, it seems there’s a ton more stuff incoming to the game. Players were given a sneak peek of what’s to come in the Dead  Daylight eight anniversary broadcast and even the status of upcoming projects.

There’s a lot to dig in which includes a look at the Dead by Daylight Year 9 roadmap, a gameplay first look at The Casting of Frank Stone single-player game and more.

Dead by Daylight x Dungeons & Dragons

A new tale is about to begin! Dead by Daylight: Dungeons & Dragons was announced as the game’s next major Chapter. Iconic D&D villain Vecna, known in Dead by Daylight as The Lich will impose his deadly will as the new Killer, while a Bard, Aestri Yazar is the new Survivor. The thrilling new Map, Forgotten Ruins takes players to a mysterious dungeon chock-full of easter eggs for fans.

D&D staples such as getting loot, magical items, and rolling dice will also be woven into the gameplay letting players channel their inner adventurer.

Castlevania’s Gothic Horror Comes to The Fog

The final surprise of the show featured a trailer for the upcoming Castlevania Chapter. Players were treated to a small glimpse of what they can expect when the long-running gaming franchise swoops in to sink its teeth into Dead by Daylight later this year.

Dead by Daylight Year 9 Roadmap:

  • Rubber-banding issue.
    • It’s a known issue.
    • Tentative fix being tested on the PTB
    • If the test is successful, it will be deployed to live.
  • 6 new chapters currently in the works.
  • Tackling AFK bots
    • Security isn’t talked about publicly but its constantly being worked on.
    • Phase 1 was introduced last year and had promising results.
    • Phase 2 will be deployed in the coming year.
  • Events improvements
    • All events will now have a separate queue.
    • More modifiers.

Gameplay Improvements

  • New challenge system.
    • Challenges completed passively.
    • Daily, Weekly and Event Challenges.
  • New inbox system to reduce popups for announcements (news, patch notes, login rewards, etc).
  • Finisher mori system
    • Added as basekit mechanic.
    • Can only be used on the last remaining survivor.
    • Mori offerings changed to give bonus bloodpoints.

New 2v8 Mode Announced

The 2V8 Game Mode was announced for Dead by Daylight offering a brand-new gameplay experience that promises to shake up The Entity’s Realm. The widely requested mode will see 2 Killers face off against 8 Survivors on a much larger Map

Cross-Progression

  • It’s happening, later this summer.
    • You need to own the base game on any platform (except mobile).

New Game Announced and Out Today!

There’s also a new game announced titled “What the Fog” that’s out now!

What the Fog is a brand-new 2-person co-op roguelite game from the world of Dead by Daylight called What the Fog was announced and released during the livestream. Players take on the role of Dwight, Claudette, or Feng Min and work together to survive a hostile world as they run, jump, and shoot their way through an army of deadly monsters and bosses.

The game is available now and the first 2 million copies can be obtained for FREE by signing in to or creating a Behaviour Account and following the steps shown on the site. What the Fog can also be purchased on Steam for $4.99 USD.

The first gameplay trailer for The Casting of Frank Stone, a single-player game set in the Dead by Daylight universe and being worked on by Supermassive Games, was also revealed too.

Finally, there was also a new game revealed during the broadcast. It’s currently titled Project T. Read on for the info from the press release.

Still in its early stages of development, the unnamed session-based PvE action-horror shooter now codenamed Project T, is opening its doors to the community to involve them in its creation. Players will be able to join the Insider Program to receive exclusive news, and the chance to participate in playtests and share their ideas and feedback on the game.

There’s a ton of content incoming to Dead by Daylight, and you can count on MP1st to cover what’s next.
