Black Ops 6 Internet Connection Required to Single-Player Campaign; Split-Screen Only Available for Current-Gen

Black Ops 6 Internet Connection

Those looking to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s single-player campaign, you better have an internet connection if you want to play it, an online connection is now required for all modes of Black Ops 6, and yes, that includes the single-player portion too.

This was revealed by the Activision support page for Black Ops 6, where it mentions that a net connection is needed for single-player since the game needs “texture streaming across all game modes.”

Is an internet connection required to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 6?

To deliver the highest-quality visuals while also reducing the game’s overall storage space on your hard drive, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will use texture streaming across all game modes. This means you’ll need a continuous internet connection to play any game mode, including Campaign. If you’re on a console, Campaign can be played without a premium subscription service such as Game Pass Core or PlayStation Plus.

Alongside that, split-screen for the game will be supported though only for current-gen platforms (PS5, Xbox Series X|S).

Does Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 support split-screen gameplay?

Split-screen gameplay (two players sharing a screen) for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. To ensure performance integrity, split-screen gameplay will not be supported on Xbox One or PlayStation 4.

This is definitely an odd design choice by Treyarch, but perhaps if they didn’t do this, the game’s harddrive requirements will be even bigger.

Is this a dealbreaker for you or not at all? Sound off in the comments and let us know.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released this October 25 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
