Toko Agatsuma

Toko Agatsuma (我 (あが) 妻 (つま) 灯 (とう) 子 (こ) , Agatsuma Tōko^?) is the great-granddaughter of Zenitsu Agatsuma and Nezuko Kamado. She is also the older sister of Yoshiteru Agatsuma.

Appearance[]

Toko bears a great resemblance to her ancestor, Nezuko Kamado, having the same waist-length black hair parted to the left side of her forehead, though her hair tips are much darker than her ancestor's and are closer to an actual red color than Nezuko's orange. She has round, pink eyes with prominent eyelashes and thin eyebrows.

Toko wears her school's standard uniform, consisting of a light blue long-sleeved shirt, black skirt, black ribbon necktie, and white vest. She also sports her uniform's black knee-socks and brown loafers.

Personality[]

Towards her brother, Toko shows great aggravation and animosity, often berating him for his antics and telling him off for not studying. At times, she resorts to physically attacking Yoshiteru, such as kicking his back or tugging on his ear.^[3] Such irritable behavior is similar to her great-grandfather. According to Yoshiteru, the females in their family were kind and gentle, with Toko being an exception.

Toko's harsh and violent actions show that she cares deeply about her younger brother's academic success and wants to see him grow up to be a mature and responsible individual. Through her efforts, Yoshiteru was able to improve his grades and gain admission to high school.

However, when Toko is with Kanata Kamado, she instantly loses her angry demeanor and instead becomes much more jubilant, especially if Kanata compliments her.^[4] She is still easily annoyed by her brother if he interrupts her and Kanata's activities.^[5]

Toko's personality shows that she doesn't believe in "superstitious" things, such as Zenitsu's journal about their journey to fight back against the demon race.

Synopsis[]

When Yoshiteru was reading Zenitsu's memoir, Toko appeared from behind with a kick to his back, scolding him for reading Zenitsu's fabricated memoir. She then scolds Yoshiteru for his lack of studying, partly due to his recent low grades. Although Yoshiteru defended himself by saying how his great-grandfather risked his life to fight, Toko pinched his ear and forced him to study properly so as not to dishonor his great-grandfather.

On the way to school, Yoshiteru, with an extremely annoyed attitude when he was scolded and beaten by his sister, thinks that Toko is different from all the women in the family because of her hot temper. Yoshiteru then asked Toko if she believed in reincarnation, but as someone who was not superstitious, Toko scolded Yoshiteru immediately. After apologizing to her, he expressed his thoughts that those who fell to fight the demons have now been reincarnated and will live happier lives than before. Toko immediately ignored him and opened her phone to see a notification, which informed her of the latest news about an athlete named Tenma Uzui, who won a gold medal in gymnastics. Despite being criticized by Yoshiteru as a thug and rude, Toko defended Tenma. Toko was then snatched by her brother to see a news item about a botanist named Aoba Hashibira. Seeing her younger brother praising Aoba as a beauty, Toko immediately called him a boy and mocked Yoshiteru for being lustful like their father. While crossing the street, Toko and her younger brother met a pair of twins who looked like Yuichiro Tokito and Muichiro Tokito. Due to discovering her brother had evil intentions, Toko immediately told him he was disgusting. With that same displeasure, she continued to look at Yoshiteru as he watched two female students who looked like Kanae Kocho and Shinobu Kocho from Sekirei Academy.

At that moment, Toko spotted Kanata Kamado, her cousin, and said good morning with an extremely amused expression on her face. After receiving compliments from Kanata, Toko's personality changed, she became softer and seemed quite shy around Kanata. Later, Toko invited Kanata to go to a restaurant of a couple who looked quite similar to Mitsuri Kanroji and Obanai Iguro, but after hearing Kanata's story and discovered that her younger brother was who made Toko and Kanata unable to go to that restaurant, she turned around, with a very angry expression, and looked at Yoshiteru.

Relationships[]

Yoshiteru Agatsuma[]

As an older sister, Toko is always telling off him to focus on his studies, especially when Yoshiteru was reading Zenitsu's book. Although she was always angry at him, both Yoshiteru and Toko care for each other, showing they have a good relationship.

Kanata Kamado[]

Kanata is Toko's second cousin. When around him, she often switches to a happier personality instead of her angry demeanor, and they often compliment each other. Toko appears to enjoy holding his hand.

*The story does not indicate which child of Sumiyoshi carries on the lineage nor the quantity of generations that follow prior to Tanjuro.

As an ordinary human, Toko does not hold any special abilities or powers.

• Her first name contains the Go-on'yomi reading of the kanji for "lamp" (灯 (とう) , tō^?) and the Kun'yomi for "child" (子 (こ) , ko^?). Her surname means "my wife" (我 (あが) 妻 (つま) , agatsuma^?).
• She knows Yoshiteru can do a good job if he tried, so she hopes he can act maturely. She hopes to be a prosecutor in the future. Yoshiteru only managed to get into high school because Toko made sure he studied.^[6]
• After Yoshiteru saved her from being run over by a truck once before, Toko took care of her brother’s injuries until he was back in good health,^[6] showing love for Yoshiteru despite having little patience for his antics.
• Toko wants to become a prosecutor.^[6]
