Potemkin Buster is one of Potemkin's Special Attacks, first appearing in the original Guilty Gear and is a a staple of his arsenal.

An Overdrive variant dubbed Heavenly Potemkin Buster (ヘブンリーポチョムキンバスター, Hebunrī Pochomukin Basutā?) exists as well, which first appeared in Guilty Gear X. Accent Core features a Midair Potemkin Buster which acts as one of his Force Breaks.

Overview[]

After grabbing his opponent, Potemkin lifts them over his back and into an Argentine Backbreaker position before jumping into the air off the screen. His gauntlets catch fire during so and when landing a bomb-like impact happens around him. He then throws the opponent to the side of him.

In the original Guilty Gear, Potemkin Buster comes out instantly if the opponent is within range and lacks a whiff animation.

From Guilty Gear X onwards, Potemkin Buster has several frames of startup. If it misses, a whiff animation is played.

Unlike the regular version, Heavenly Potemkin Buster has Potemkin start the attack by jumping diagonally upwards to catch the opponent, rise up-and-off the screen, then proceeds to do the attack as normal. In Guilty Gear -Strive-, a splash screen depicting a pair of deities in the sky before he falls back to the floor.

Trivia[]

  • In some of his voice sets, Potemkin dubs this as the "48th Sure-Killing Art" (48の必殺技, Yonjūhachi no Hissatsu Waza?).
