Shouldn't this page be at Bleach Wiki:Grammar Corner since its not an article? The Shadow Dragon 00:56, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

I don't know, it was Salubri who made this page for us all to communicate so i'm guessing if he made it an article for a reason, perhaps becuase we are not techincally a sub-commitee, only a group of volunteers. GinIchimaru 01:08, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

American/English vs Actual English[]

It seems alot of these articles are written with americanized english (for instance favor instead of favour). I was wondering whther we should be changin ghtis to proper english, or leaving it in americanized english..... i myself would vote for proper english. GinIchimaru

I thought about that myself, but I looked into this and "Actual English" seems a bit redundant. After looking into the matter, there's around 6-8 different variants of English (American, British, Canadian, Australian, Irish, Scottish, Ulster). I don't know all the differences between all of them, but at this point, we should probably accept either form of English, since there are too many possible arguments that can break out over which form of English should be used here. Additionally, since many users appear to use either American or British versions of English (I can't speak for which one seems to be the majority), it seems somewhat unfair to force one side to conform to one form of English, as regional differences have had people taught a specific form of English, and trying to use a form of English they may not be familiar with can become potentially difficult to deal with and may result in more grammar problems rising than actually being fixed. Yeah, I don't know much about British english so I will be using American english. When editing a page I would suggesting leaving the form of english the same as it currently is and not changing it to your preferred convention unless it is mixed and matched in which case change it to what you know the best--Godisme (Talk) 19:03, April 15, 2010 (UTC)

Articles in need of checking[]

Hi everyone. I have been asked by Tinni to pass any article marked as needs checking for completion in the Bleach Wiki:Article Improvement Project and Bleach Wiki:Fight Summary Project to be reviewed in the Grammar Corner. These are not necessarily poorly written (Quite the opposite) but it was the committee's decision that any newly written article be spelling and grammar proofed before completion. For this sake I created a new section at the top of the project page titled Project Articles to be Checked for Completion, the pages therein should not pose a serious challenge as a 10 minute review and a few touches here and the are usually all that's required. How to apply?[]

Hey everyone,

Uhm, I wanted to apply to the Grammar corner, but I didn't know how to...

So...I thought I'd just apply right here...I mean, I noticed the "sign up here" text,

but I thought, "what if they meant something else by "sign up here", because it

would seem incredibly rude if I'd just write my name down...

If I need you need any reasons and such for applicating, well, I'm in my 3rd year

of pen school, and I'm already allowed to do the English exams for the 6th-year students.

So I figured this would be good practice, and also, I'd just like to contribute to this

wikia, since I've been a member for two years now (no one notices me though XD) and

I felt like I never really did anything of value, I never really did anything here. Sure, a

few blog posts here and there, but no one reads them, they all go to Lia or TVthepunisher,

so that wasn't really useful...Anyways, if I signed up in the wrong way, please make it

Question about the word hollow.[]

I have seen the word "hollow" capitalized and not capitalized. Is the word hollow consider a simple noun that does not need capitalization? Or should it always be capitalized? Because I am seeing it used both ways. I think this needs cleared up. Ltjuno ^(talk) 17:25, August 28, 2010 (UTC)

Under the Wiki's policy, the names of all the races are to always be capitalized, such as the recent movement to capitalize "Human." The same goes for any other important terms. Microsoft Word Spellcheck? Seriously?[]

While I'm not a member of the Grammar Corner, I do check and fix bad grammar when I catch it in articles pertaining to Bleach. I've noticed a usage of words improperly, which commonly results from relying completely on spellcheck to proof-read an article, for instance: chord/cord, their/there, your/you're its/it's as well as improper use of 's. While I don't mean to say you guys are slacking off. I think a procedure for a through reading the articles to see if the grammar is correct before saying it's "completed" (atleast until someone adds something new...) wouldn't hurt in ensuring grammar nazis like myself don't have an aneurysm whilst reading articles.Licourtrix ^(talk) 00:27, September 8, 2010 (UTC)

If you had bothered to fully read the procedure that I came up with, you would have read that I advise putting it through a spellcheck first to hit the major stuff. I did read that, and I'd like to know what you found insulting, as I tried to be as polite and non-confrontational as I could. That matter out of the way, obvious errors that appear to be the result of complete reliance on spellcheck, are most likely due to complete reliance on spellcheck. Licourtrix, while I am unable to speak for every member of the Grammar Corner I can promise you that the majority do not "rely completely on spellcheck". As Godisme states many use microsoft word to pick up spelling errors quickly on the big articles. However we are not so dim as to believe that microsoft word is infallible. We do read through the articles to correct grammatical mistakes and fair enough we may occasionally miss something, but alas we are only human. You need to understand that every article on the wikia is constantly being edited and so no matter how hard we try there may always be a few grammatical errors because of this. Also this Grammar Corner is only a new project, we have not went through every article yet. Every article in this wikia is under constant revision. Perhaps instead of criticising you should sign up to the Grammar Corner and help improve it yourself. GinIchimaru ^(talk) 01:58, September 8, 2010 (UTC)

My intention was not to criticize but to point out that some obvious errors commonly seem to make it through somehow, and that some added measures could help prevent that. As for joining the grammar corner, I don't visit wikia or the bleach wiki often enough to be useful in that respect, and I do things alone. So you don't visit the bleach wiki often? then how can you expect to understand how things actually work here. Like I said not every article has been overhauled yet and even the ones that have are under constant editing, as Godisme stated, if you find an article that needs alot of work then feel free to post it on the Grammar Corner page. I realize my earlier post might be found to be insulting, I'm sorry and I honestly mean no insult to anyone here at the grammar corner. I'm irked by bad grammar, and on a day full of stress and proclamations of "if I see one more Bleach filler I'm gonna-" I should've posted with alittle more tact. I do not blame all the grammar errors I come across as mistakes on the part of anyone here, nor will I ever. "To-add" in procedure[]

Well, as we put Yammy as "10th Arrancar" instead of Espada 10, I think we should consider putting in that same section that if we run into Vizard we change it for Visored, Soifon for Suì-Fēng, and any names that MASKED Databook may change.

New tool for grammar corner[]

It actually did ok with the Japanese words and it recognized media wiki formatting. You just need to set it to undergraduate style paper and other for paper type. However, I would still double check the grammar by hand using the mla format book. --Lemursrule ^(talk) 10:35, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

Check for accuracy[]

I think for the High Priority articles, there should be a section on the page where we can move the article links from high priority to an area where another member can check for accuracy, to make sure the other user edited the grammar carefully enough. The articles are edited enough and checked enough that a check for accuracy is not needed, due to their nature as constantly edited articles that are always being worked on and checked by others. I used to check off people's work as they completed it but it proved to be an inefficient mess. --God|Pray00:03,11/21/2012
