Vine snakes were a variety of sometimes venomous serpents found in jungle regions of planets such as Kashyyyk, Dagobah, and Wayland.
They would lie in wait on branches, or among vines for camouflage, waiting for prey to pass underneath. They then dropped down and killed their victims through gradual constriction. Nonetheless, they did possess fangs and would bite when provoked. On Dagobah they were commonly preyed upon by the bogwing.
Vine snakes made up several breeds. Some were thick with brown scales and black mottling. A smaller breed was thin and black with yellow striped patterns.
Behind the Scenes[]
In the films, the smaller breed of vine snake on Dagobah was played by South American King Snakes while the larger sort were played by Pythons and Boa Constrictors.
