Honoring our lost healthcare workers: ambulance volunteer and community pillar Yaakov Meltzer

Before Covid-19 took his life, Queens native Yaakov Meltzer was a local ambulance service volunteer, retired physician's assistant and rabbi. The 64-year-old passed away in late March, leaving behind his wife of nearly 40 years, Debbie, as well as their eight children and 28 grandchildren.

Meltzer was a fixture in his tight-knit community – friends and neighbors would turn to him for medical advice. "He was always there for us ... you couldn't believe that he would have time and passion for everybody," says family friend Rochelle Sirote. In the video, hear from Meltzer’s family and community.
