Description ~
Immersive Menus is a mod designed to replace the game's vanilla main menu background. No setup. Just download and play. While other mods may do similar things, Immersive Menus stands out for its unique feature: the integration of the RandomMainMenu mod by PKO. With this integration, each time you launch the game, you're greeted with a unique, randomized background that makes launching the game after it crashes just that much more immersive.
How it looks in-game:

Features ~
- Immerse yourself in 16 meticulously crafted backgrounds, each offering the option to change every time you launch the game.
- Each background comes it's own custom soundscape totaling to 16 ambiance tracks.
- Enjoy hassle-free installation and extensive customization options with the FOMOD installer.
- Choose from three resolution types, 1920x1080, 2560x1440 and 3440x1440 (Ultrawide!) to seamlessly integrate the mod across various display setups and resolutions.
- Choose whether you want to keep the vanilla music, or use the new and improved audio tracks for each main menu in the recently revamped FOMOD installers!
- Opt for individual files for each background, available in two types: Standalone and Random. Select only the backgrounds you desire, whether for consistent menu replacement or randomized variety.

Compatibility ~
- For optimal performance, a 16:9 or 21:9 display is strongly recommended, as this mod is made for and tested with these specific aspect ratios.
- This mod's standalone versions have been verified to work on steam deck, and the random versions would work as well as long as F4SE is supported.
- Mods that disable the main menu startup movies and other features of the main menu might break or disable parts of this mod. It is recommended to disable any other mods that modify the main menu in odd ways.
- Ultrawide (21:9) has been fully supported since update 1.4.0.
- Tested and functional on both next-gen and old-gen versions of the game.
- Standalone versions for each file are available in the optional files tab, catering to users who prefer individual menu background replacements over randomized menus.
- With only two files and an optional F4SE plugin that solely modifies the main menu background, this mod is designed to be compatible with a wide range of load orders.
- Installation and uninstallation mid-save is completely safe. Even with other main menu replacers installed, the mod remains functional, provided you use the randomized versions or overwrite any existing replacers. To add compatibility with a different menu replacer for random menus, simply rename the video and audio file and append "_yourfilename" to the end.

Installation ~
Before you install any mod for the first time, make sure you have modding enabled in fallout4custom.ini. If you have already done this, skip to step 3.
Here is how to enable modding if you haven't already:
Step 1: Find your Fallout4Custom.ini
For Mod Organizer 2:
- Open MO2.
- Go to the "Tools" menu, then "Tool Plugins".
- Click on "INI Editor".
- Select the "Fallout4Custom.ini" tab.
For Vortex or Other/No Mod Manager:
- Navigate to the "Documents\My Games\Fallout4" folder.
- If "Fallout4Custom.ini" does not exist, create it.
- Open "Fallout4Custom.ini" with any text editor.
Step 2: Add/Change INI Values
- If your INI file doesn't have an "[Archive]" section, add it at the end.
- In the [Archive] section: If there is a line starting with "bInvalidateOlderFiles=...", delete it. If there is a line starting with "sResourceDataDirsFinal=...", delete it.
- Add the following lines to your [Archive] section without quotes:
"bInvalidateOlderFiles=1"
"sResourceDataDirsFinal="
The end result should look something like this:
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=
Step 3: Installation
With a Mod Manager (Recommended)
1. Ensure you have removed any other mod that replaces the main menu and its soundtrack. If you want to add your existing main menu replacer to Immersive Menus, attach a suffix to the video and music files from that mod so that this mod can detect them and add them to the pool of backgrounds.
2. Download using a mod manager of your choice and install it.

2. Place contents in Data Folder/ Respective folders (i.e Music & Video). The file structure should look like this:
data/video/mainmenuloop_IM01.bk2
data/music/special/mus_maintheme_IM01.xmt

Video Preview ~

This mod will never get a port to Xbox due to the nature of what it adds and how it uses script extender for randomization. Sorry for the disappointment folks.

Troubleshooting ~
If the menu doesn't change, consider these two possibilities:
Archive Invalidation: The archive invalidation setting in your Fallout4Custom.ini might be formatted incorrectly or not functioning properly.
Mod files being overwritten by a another mod: A different menu replacer mod may be overwriting the "mus_maintheme.xwm" and "MainMenuLoop.bk2" files. To fix this, make sure this mod has priority by placing it lower in your load order if you're using a mod manager.
If your game crashes at startup, it’s likely due to another mod or Fallout 4's inherent instability during launch. This mod is very lightweight and the likelihood that this mod is responsible for crashing is little to none.
To reduce startup issues, you can use the No Bethesda and S.P.E.C.I.A.L Intro mod by Meatbag101, which skips the startup intro videos by replacing the video files with empty ones, so it is a less hacky and invasive method. If the music still doesn't change, try adding these lines to your Fallout4Custom.ini:
[General]
SIntroSequence=1
fChancesToPlayAlternateIntro=1
uMainMenuDelayBeforeAllowSkip=1
These settings will re-enable the Bethesda and S.P.E.C.I.A.L intros if they were disabled. If you have intros disabled, you might bug out the base game and have the default music play no matter what.
Don't want the new audio but already have the mod installed? Just remove this mod's mus_maintheme_example.xwm file from the directory where you installed it!
