This is a remix/mashup of two Doom Rain mods. Rain Simple from Realm667, and Universal Rain and Snow from ZDoom forums. Taking stuff of both mods, I made a more simple rain mod with focus in the following fixes and features:

- Fixed rain going under deep water (now it splashes over the surface)
- Made it backwards compatible with GZDoom versions previous to 4 (tested with GZDoom 3.7.0 and above)
- Customizable colors (Red, Green, Blue, Black)
- Set Rain Amount
- ROTT style Lightning and Thunder, with frequency control and dynamic lights
- Increased randomness to add realism
- Ripples

News

Greetings, Mortals. Are you ready for an update?

New update:

- Thanks to dumb-raemon for reporting a nasty bug that was causing the game to freeze! Luckily, I found the solution and, now it's fixed. Thanks again to him! Otherwise that bug would have slipped by.

Updated some things:

- Rain colors now work with any IWAD (tested with Heretic, Hexen & Strife) or any other stuff that use a different color palette (I'm guessing)
- Improved ripples behaviour on deep water surfaces
- Lightning and rain reworked a bit
- Improved compatibility with maps featuring 3D Floors.

Known Issues:

- If you experience low performance on maps with lots of 3D floors or actors/effects, try disabling Thunder & Lightning.
- If you have trouble seeing Red or Black Rain, try changing your Sector Light Mode, or setting your Tonemap to Hejl Dawson on Display Options.

I have some ideas for the Ash & Snow, but nothing concrete yet. Stay tuned!

This is SOOOO awesome. We need more of these universal add-ons.

Weather, atmosphere, fog, lighting.. there's re soo many already.
I've saved and uploaded 14gb of universal add-ons to telegram already and it's getting more and more..

I need more..

Military 3d model enemies ..

Hd sprites objects for pickups..

Different themes for pickups ..

Gory corpses in 2d and 3d..

I hope someone is creating them over time since I have no idea of this.
But seeing that weather mod getting updated is awesome and gives hope we gonna have more of them soon ..

Thanks

Ooh. Never noticed this here.
I have been usually playing my stuff with mods with the sound added version of the Weather Tweaker mod from HexereticDoom, the guy behind HXRTC and HeXeReTiC Fantasy which is located in those mod files.
But something with improvements like this does get me curious to try this out on the side if I want all the nifty stuff this has.

Great work. Could you also make, ash and snow since Universal Rain and Snow is not compatible with the latest gzdoom.

Thanks! I'll see what I can do about that Ash and Snow.

Hey, I'm with him on that about ash and snow effect. One more thing: could you also create options like a universal rain and snow add-on that can change all weather phenomena anytime, anywhere?

I really enjoy seeing rain with so many colors like this

and it would be fantastic to have a lightning effect that strikes and flashes from the sky along with the rain, and having a separate option for that effect would make it perfect! (i hope you will think about it and make it if you can)

Well I'm not a fan of automatic weather cycles if that's what you mean. My approach is giving the user itself the freedoom to pick the best options for the particular map they're playing.

I've been thinking about "a ray that strikes from the sky" and it sounds cool. I might experiment a bit and if it ends up looking cool I might add it as an option.

Ummm, sorry for my poor English, but what I meant is that having an option to switch between different weather types like rain, snowfall, or ash would make the experience richer instead of just having rain while playing the mega wad.

Also, could you please check something? It seems that when I use your Rain Remix addon, my GZDoom application FREEZE. In the ROTT Thunder Lightning settings, if I set the frequency to high, the game becomes very choppy and laggy. When I lower it to medium, it improves, but the application still FREEZE without any error message. I have to press X to exit. I'm using GZDoom version 4.12.2.

Finally, I really hope you will add an option to switch between different weather types. Yeah, I hope!

Hello Dumb Raemon!

I think I solved the issue that caused the freeze. Fixed and reuploaded!

I hope it works for you.

Hey man,

I gave it a quick whirl, and I don’t have any complaints. The fixed and new updates are really nice!

However, I still hope you’ll consider adding ash, snow, and a ray that strikes from the sky. Even if you don't add an option to change the weather automatically, I’ll be happy to switch it manually e he he he he

and thank you so so much
