Mario's Key[1] is an item in Super Mario 64 DS. The key is made of gold with a large M in the center of it, and it has Mario's cap on top of it. It is the key that unlocks the door that Mario is trapped behind. Yoshi can obtain Mario's Key by defeating Goomboss. After the player uses the key, Mario is unlocked as a playable character, and his caps appear in courses if the player character is someone other than him.
