No more "Oh, you wanted that solution to be secure as well? Then you should pay for the premium version and/or buy additional software." I am really looking forward to get inspiration from your Secure Future Initiative and to start appreciating your solutions for also being built and deployed setting security first!

Gee, what...This is MS re-inventing/re-dedicating itself to "security" (Yes, those were air quotes.) for the 3rd time in as many decades? Seriously, if MS was "serious" about security and ensuring that it's customers were able to work with confidence and just the slightest minutiae of security, then you would STOP with the games -- like subscription OSes and charging extra for access to MS/O365/Azure logs. I have 15 more years before I retire and start collecting social security benefits. Let's see if MS can avoid "re-dedicating" itself once more.

Charlie Bell excited about #SFI. As someone who has spent a decade on identity there is only one thing you need to do today: prevent unauthorized initial access with compromised credentials. That prevents over 95% of all MFA bypass attacks and every password based attack including #AiTM attacks. This means forget detection. Only focus on prevention and access is granted using the transitive trust principle. This means: an authentication transaction can only be carried out on a “trusted service” by a “trusted device” coupled to a “trusted user” and authorized under the “user’s total control. Microsoft Authenticator is no longer fit for purpose because push, OTP and QR based MFA can be bypassed. Conditional Access is not longer fit for purpose because it’s based on the principle of detection and not prevention. Authentication is no longer based on phishable factors such as secrets. It’s phish-proof passwordless same-device #MFA.

Microsoft Security Team, you have covered almost all possible areas as goals & objectives of your Secure Future Initiative! Altough as you have mentioned that MS is delivering on these goals through a new level of coordination with a new operating model that aligns leaders and teams to the six SFI pillars. Look forward that how these goals & objectives gets addressed and security is enhanced further in a cost effective manner. Also, I would like to add that research, conceptualization, designs, developments, and tests of secure technology systems of on-premise and cloud-based networks will play a major role to enhance these security services further. Microsoft Security Team can definitely play the role to provide leadership, management, directions so that organisations can effectively managed the associated cybersecurity related risks to meet the Standards, Regulatory & Contractual Obligations.
