Great news for designers who hate being asked to design pop-ups or obnoxiously colored buttons in an attempt to draw users’ attention. Apparently it often has the opposite effect.

Check out the 4 step exercise at the end of the article. Excellent advice.

Researchers called it “falling asleep at the wheel.”

Elegantly sums up some thoughts I’ve tried (unsuccessfully) to articulate over the years. A few highlights: “Design is a “show, rather than tell” practice — or better yet, “experience, rather than explain.” The designer’s role is not at the table explaining our work, but rather in the room where we can make things — for and with users.” “The language of design is play, connection, trying and failing, making. It’s a language of discovery. It’s a language of learning from the stories of real people. Of asking questions. Lots of them.” “McKinsey found… ‘Only one-third of CEOs could detail what their CDO (Chief Design Officer) oversaw at the company. In other words, 66% of CEOs couldn’t say what their CDO actually did, or how that success should be measured.’ 😳

Excited to share an article I wrote for AVIA Marketplace on the UX challenges of designing AI tools.
In today's ever-evolving AI landscape, clarity and clear interface designs are the keys to user success. Andy Rench, AVIA's Director of Product Design, explores the UX principles that can help standardize AI tool design for both users and designers. My talented colleague Zak Randall wrote an article on how the workplace is changing with the emergence of new AI tools. A highly recommended read.
Hey LinkedIn family! 🙌 I'm excited (and a bit nervous) to share the first article from our newly launched AVIA AI Labs. It’s an exploration of the evolving workplace landscape, inspired by the fantastic teammates I work with daily. The concept? The Fullstack Employee – someone not limited by traditional boundaries, empowered by AI, and ready to embrace the changing nature of work. It’s not about knowing everything but having the mindset and tools to venture into anything. A huge shoutout to wildly talented teammates like Aaron Diestelkamp, Andy Rench, Alec Kozak and Adam King for the inspiration and experts like Ethan Mollick for expanding my thinking with recent insights on navigating the "Jagged Frontier" of AI capabilities. I'd love your feedback, thoughts, or even just a dad joke to lighten the day! (Always appreciated!) 😄 Check it out here https://lnkd.in/gCr39GQY #FullstackEmployee #AILabs #FutureOfWork #AI

I'm excited to announce I've become a mentor on ADPlist. It's a great platform for having conversations with folks in your industry with live 1:1 sessions based on the topics you choose. I've been trying it out as a mentee as well and it's been a great experience so far. And it's free!

The product design team at AVIA is hiring! We have an open position for a Visual Designer on my team (AVIA Connect). It's a great opportunity for a bunch of reasons, not just because you'd get to work with me ;) Please apply or share! https://lnkd.in/enGYY_4B
