This should be a good sci-fi/super hero movie, except that Ryan Reynolds is in it. so, nope.

So later on it's going to have 3 prequels that rape my childhood and edit the original to make it so the Green Lantern didn't use his power ring first? (like 5 people will get that second reference, lol)

I have never read a Green Latern comic and know nothing about him but the movie sounds interesting. I love it when Hollywood puts a real effort into making movies based off comics, video games, or something else. Look at Batman Begins, Dark Knight, and the first two Spiderman movies. All great films and done well. Sounds like Green Latern will join those movies from what I read n this story. Might become a Green Latern fan.

The whole "Han shot first" thing isn't really that obscure of a reference. I would be more surprised if people didn't get it, then if they did.

I'm fucking sick of Ryan Reynolds. I think he sucks. I don't know why he's becoming the go-to guy for comic book movies. Hannibal King, Deadpool, now the Green Lantern. Maybe I should get on a Bowflex and act like a loveable smart ass and I'll make it the movie biz.

Do you know a great way to ridiculously over-hype a sci-fi movie eight months before release...called it the 'new Star Wars'!

On a side note the Green Lantern has to be one of the gayer looking comic book characters I've ever seen. Is he going to save the planet with his power ring?

@DodgeRoadRage As well as: Iron Man and Iron Man 2; the first two X-Men movies; and the Tim Burton Batman films.

@ VectorHero

Don't forget the Incredible Hulk and the first Blade.

I'm excited for this, now do a look at Thor and Captain America and I'll be set.

I know he's going to be in it, but I'll be on a razor's edge until Salaak is confirmed. I think he is one of those figures that is needed in the Green Lantern World. I kinda hope they don't bring in Mogo. When it comes to the sequel and you need to "raise the bar" Mogo would certainly do that.

It's still too soon to tell if this will be a new star wars. But this article it looks like the filmmaking team is on the right track. Very hopeful for this picture.

Besides the odd trade and graphic novel, Green Lantern is the only DC title I collect on a monthly basis. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to this movie a whole bunch.

I am really hoping this movie does well. The crew shot a couple of scenes at my job in NOLA and I took some photos but had to take them down. I also know several people on the crew and know they were working hard to make this an awesome movie. Good to hear this report...

"In brightest day, in hottest night" You're joking right. No where in any Lantern oath is hottest even mentioned: http://greenlantern.wikia.com/wiki/Lantern_Oaths_(Disambiguation).

Typically it's "In brightest day, in blackest night" or you can Ryan Reynold's it and say "darkest night". Hottest night doesn't even make sense.

@pctsou

I was refering to the movie but the character is nowhere near as known or as much of a pop icon as anything in Star Wars.

@Jabronie... Jim retooled the line because the set visit was one of the hottest he's ever been on. He goes on to say so in the next sentence!

Seeing as the GL crypt seems to be featured in the film, it would be a safe bet to say that Blackest Night will indeed make an appearance.

@ Lord_Turdsley .. Star Wars wasn't a cult classic before it came out.. Still a pretty big claim though.

"Jabronie_Man"
I think the writer is making a joke about how Hot New Orleans is and how it is to visit the set.

WOW the central power battery looks just like imagine it would look. with a beam of green energy shooting in the sky to signify the GL'S might. and crypts of the GLC looks cosmicily (if that's even a word) scary and beautiful. (like something out of lord of the rings)

now, all they need is a great super big space battle at the end with Hal and Sinestro receiving metals from the queen of zamaron with the Guardians next two her and GL's on the side lines

I really wanna see some a trailer. I'm behind it 100% already - I love that Geoff Johns in involved with something out of WB/DC finally, Ryan Reynolds is a great Lantern, and Martin Campbell can be a hell of a director (man, I love Casino Royale!) - but I really wanna see how it all comes together. This means some finished VFX shots. The only reason I care about Harry Potter coming out is so I can see the first trailer for Green Lantern!

"...accomplished what that panel didn't: it created excitement for the film..."
What? Judging by what was shown, the panel at San Diego did make fans pretty excited. Just saying.

Green Lantern is still kind of an odd choice of a movie to me, I mean come on, he was never really a popular DC character, but I'll give the movie a chance. Hopefully it'll be better than Superman Returnswas.

So is that an AFTER pic of Oa? Because it looks like it's seen better days especially considering it's supposed to be the heart of the civilized universe. That right there looks like a large canyon on a gaseous planet covered in asymmetrical crystalline stalagmites. Or am I looking at it wrong? :/

Also, please don't compare this movie with Star Wars. Star Wars starred Harrison Ford who oozes charm, charisma and personality. Green Latern stars Ryan Reynolds who has a curious case of lisping.
