I have never been less prepared. Which is shocking, because in past years I felt like I had done no prep, and this year I feel like I did even less than years past. At least last year I had kept track of major player moves. I don't think I followed signings and trades in the NFL at all this offseason. Ah, well, I guess I fall back on my usual foolproof plan: draft Peyton Manning.

I usually get notification emails alerting me of an upcoming draft. I didn't get any this year. However, I did receive an email letting me know the draft completed and that I got an A+ rating. That's something, I guess!

Well, that's typical of autodraft-defaults. Autodraft gives you the players Yahoo has highest-ranked, that sentient managers deliberately pass over because they think Yahoo's rankings are faulty and there's more value in players Yahoo thinks are inferior. So of course when Yahoo evaluates teams' drafts, they assign the best grades to the autodrafters - they're the ones that took all the players Yahoo overrates, making Yahoo think your team is tops.

I didn't want to blow my #1 waiver priority to take my own RB handcuff that I should have drafted but actually nobody drafted. I figured, nobody wanted him in the draft, there's still like 8 higher rated RBs out there including starters, who the fuck's going to burn their postdraft waiver to snipe a backup running back when I have the incumbet starter?

Wow, this first week really is seeming to show a split between the haves and have nots. There are six teams presently projected to finish this week with over 110 points; all above projection. And there are six teams projected to finish this week under 91 points, all below projection. Nobody in the usual ~100 point middle ground at all.
