Secret Treasures Guide
Looking for Tunic's Secret Treasures? This page of the IGN Guide and Walkthrough covers what these secret treasures are, as well as where and how you can find them. You can use this page as a checklist and mark off each one you've found so far.
What Are Tunic's Secret Treasures?
There are 12 secret treasures hidden and scattered all around the world in Tunic. Some of them are visible but are just tricky to get to and others will require you to enter a Holy Cross code using the D-pad. Finding a secret treasure earn you an achievement along with a well-deserved sense of accomplishment.
Each time you find a secret treasure you can find it later in a hidden room inside the Old House. Return to the room where you found the shield and instead go south to find another doorway and enter the Secret Treasures room. Here you'll find 12 pedestals that serve as resting places for each treasure.
Where to Find Tunic's Secret Treasures
Below you'll find a list of where you can find all 12 secret treasures as well as any Holy Cross codes you'll need to input using the D-pad to obtain them.
Location: The first treasure is hidden in a building in the Overworld. It's the first locked room you discovered after starting the game that leads to the East Forest.
As always, the secret was staring at you the whole time, via a box with a handwritten icon marked on the map, right here:
Go to the room and look for a pattern on the wall. The pattern describes the directions you have to enter on the D-Pad.
Stand in front of the wall and trace the pattern on the wall with the D-pad and a passage opens up that leads to the treasure.
D-Pad Code: Right, Up, Left, Up, Right, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Left, Up, Right, Up, Left, Down
Location: You need to travel to the Cathedral at night and already have the dash ability to find this secret treasure. To switch to nighttime, go to the Old House and sleep in the bed. Now head to the Swamp via the bridge in the southeast -- there's a glowing ladder that leads down from the bridge that lets you access the lower area and the graveyard pretty easily. Head through the gate and to the Cathedral entrance, up the ramps in the northeast and across the walkways.
After entering the Cathedral, go to the left. You should now be in the small library room with the steel ladder hanging from above.
Touch the wall by hitting or by dashing into it, and you'll open a secret doorway to find a treasure chest at the end of the hall. At the end of this hallway, interact with the wall again to open another doorway. Cross the bridge of light and you'll see a treasure chest underneath. The wall shows a pattern that you'll need to "trace" with the D-pad.
Enter: Left, up, left, up, right, up, left up, right, down, right, right, up, right, down, left, right, down, left, down, left.
A secret passage will open, but you still can't grab the chest since the bridge of light blocks it. Go through the door and find a chest outside on a balcony with some money. Keep following the pathway and you'll discover a hidden ladder to the right of the entrance of the Cathedral. Remember it.
It's now time to go back to the Old House and change back to daytime. Return to the Cathedral, but this way taking the lower path by going behind the stone bridge from the beach (since there's no glowing ladder leading down). It's hidden and you can only see it if you shift the camera angle:
Since the gate to the Cathedral grounds is closed, you have to walk up the stone ramp and use your Crown's blink ability to make your way across the pillars and climb down behind the wall. Sprint to the back of the area while avoiding all the pesky enemies and follow the stone walkways back to the entrance.
This time, take the hidden ladder into the secret chamber. Since it's now daytime, the bridge of light is nowhere to be seen and you can finally grab the treasure.
Location: The Windmill in the Overworld. You can find a hint for this puzzle on page 53 of the manual.
If you look at the sails on the windmill you'll notice that each one has a pattern, designated by the small notch in one of the four directions -- which in turn correspond to a direction on the D-pad. The tape on one of the blades marks the start of the code, with the arrows in the drawing showing the progression.
Follow the hint to solve the puzzle, or simply enter the following code to unlock the secret treasure.
D-Pad Code: Down, Left, Left, Up, Up, Right, RIght, Left, Down, Right, Up, Down
Location: In the Overworld, travel to the southwest beach that leads to the Ruined Atoll and go to the little island just off the shore. You'll need to have page 1 of the instruction manual in order to find this secret treasure and use a hint from page 51 as well.
Be sure to stand in this small body of water, pause the game and then go to Options > Audio and turn down the Master Volume to 0%. Unpause the game and wait for at least 60 seconds.
After 60 seconds open the instruction manual to page 1 and you'll see a new drawing appear on the bottom right of the page, indicating where you will find the secret treasure chest, along with a secret message that serves as instructions.
You're now ready to input the code by using the D-pad.
D-Pad Code: Down, Right x 11, Left x 12
Location: The Swamp, in the south most section of the map, marked by a skull drawing.
After entering the swamp, head east past the gate and immediately go right to climb up the wooden ladder. As you follow the path you'll notice a reddish golden skull. You'll need to find four of these golden skulls which will be scattered throughout this particular area of the Swamp and roll them into a small hole in front of a tombstone.
The skulls can be a bit of a pain to roll around and trying to hit them with your sword or using the dash ability won't really work. Gently run up against them to nudge and roll them around until they fall into the small hole. Once you've found and dropped off all four skulls, the secret treasure chest will appear.
Location: Fast travel to the East Forest and from the teleporter pad, immediately go south through the trees to find a path that leads to a wooden ladder. Climb down the three ladders to find yourself in the lower East Forest. On the right you'll see a hook on the ground and above it will be a ledge with a slime. And behind that slime will be a platinum treasure chest that contains the sixth secret treasure.
This one can be a little tricky - you can find a hint for what to do on page 53 of the manual but basically you'll need to have the Magic Wand, the Magic Dagger and the Magic Orb equipped. Target the slime and use both the Magic Wand and the Magic dagger at the same time to attack it. When it has frozen over, use the Magic Orb to hook yourself up to the ledge. Kill the slime to get it out of the way and the secret treasure will be all yours.
Location: In the Overworld, return to the secret room behind the waterfall next to the Dark Tomb's entrance. You'll need to have rescued all 20 fairies in order to collect this secret treasure. If you've done so, the treasure chest will automatically appear as soon as you enter the room.
Location: The Old House in the Overworld.
You can find hints for this puzzle on pages 28 and 34 of the instruction manual. Pay attention to the windchime hanging outside of the Old House. It plays a song and pauses before it repeats the melody again. The notes are in sets of two, rising and falling, sometimes at the same time or sometimes they're both the same note. There is a musical key for this song on page 34 on the bottom left corner of the page. Once you've figured it out, enter the code using the D-pad.
D-Pad Code: Up, down, right, up, down, left, up, down, left, right, down, left right, up
Location: The very first fast travel teleporter you find in the Overworld, immediately after you wake up on the beach for the first time.
Page 11 of the instruction manual contains a hint in the box labeled "Prize/Treasure." You'll see a series of dots scribbled inside this box. Connect them, starting from left to right, to reveal a pattern and enter that by using the D-pad.
D-Pad Code: Right, Down, Left, Up, Left, Left, Down, Right, RIght, Down, Down
Location: Fast travel to the Ruined Atoll. On the map, you'll notice an arrow was drawn in and is pointing off to an area off the map. You'll need to have acquired the dash ability to reach this area.
Once you've reached the shore, dash over the rubble to a small island. Here you'll see a block statue buried in the ground. In front of it will be a secret treasure chest.
Location: Fast travel to the Interior of the Eastern Vault and then head south until you exit the Vault and reach the courtyard. Turn right to go into the next area and follow the path all the way down. Once you reach the stairs at the foot of the Hero's Grave, teleport dash to the left over the floating pieces of rubble until you reach the entrance to a cave on the other side.
Inside this save you'll see three piles of leaves and a broom in the corner. The broom is a hint that you should clean up. But there's actually a little secret that you might not spot without adjusting your camera angle -- a fourth pile of leaves:
Destroy all of the piles of leaves and the secret treasure chest will materialize in the center of the room.
Location: The Far Shore. You'll need to have acquired the dash ability in order to find this final secret treasure chest.
Find the nearest fast travel teleporter and travel to the Far Shore. On the map you'll see a drawn in arrow pointing to the left.
Teleport dash to the left (don't worry, you won't fall) and keep dashing left until you reach the secret treasure chest.
Once you've collected all 12 secret treasures, you can return to the treasure room where you'll find a glowing portal in the middle of the room. If you enter this portal, you'll be taken to the top of an isolated tower, surrounding by 12 glowing lights.
This is where you can tackle what is probably Tunic's last and absolutely craziest secret puzzle, the Glyph Tower.
