Items
Sly will have the opportunity to collect a wide variety of items in Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus. Collecting these varies from easy to difficult depending on the item, some requiring other items to be collected before finding them. These items are listed here:
- Gold Coin - A solid piece of precious metal. Sly earns a Charm whenever he collects 100 of these. If he already has a Charm when he collects 100 coins, he will earn an extra life instead.
- Charm (Horseshoe) - Sly loves his lucky charms. This magical horseshoe lets him suck up an extra hit or trap before dying. If he obtains a second charm while carrying one, his horseshoe turns gold and he can suck up two hits. If Sly already has a gold charm, any other charms found at preset locations within a stage will not appear. If Sly dies enough times within the same area, he will usually get a free charm on his next life (To make things easier for the Player).

- Key (Treasure Key) - A device that opens locks. Sly ultimately needs to collect all the keys within a hideout to reach the boss.
- Thievius Raccoonus Page - A part of the Cooper heirloom. Pages obtained from Vaults within standard stages reward Sly with optional moves that are not required for beating the game. Pages obtained from bosses often give Sly vital moves that are needed to finish the game. (Note how optional moves are activated with the Triangle Button while vital moves are activated with the Circle Button.)
- Blueprints - A sheet detailing the layout of a hideout. If Sly finds this, Bentley can set up the Binocucom to detect certain objects in every stage of that hideout. Clues will be marked with a green reticle, destructible objects with a yellow reticle, and traps with a red reticle.
- Hourglass - An hourglass at the beginning of a standard stage Sly has already passed. By touching this, Sly will begin the Master Thief Run for that stage. The goal is to reach the end of the stage before the timer runs out. These challenges are very difficult, but beating them allows you to hear the Sucker Punch crew's commentary on that stage.
