Guide
Although it's based on the PC hit of the same name, Quake II for the Nintendo 64 is largely a fresh, new game. Nintendo 64 owners get a whole slew of exclusive levels specifically designed with the platform in mind, Expansion Pak support for boosted framerates and added visual effects, a very strong sense of speed comparable to the PC original and, probably most important of all, a top-notch multiplayer mode. The key to success in Quake II lies in the player's ability to hit players from far away and quickly strafe out of the way. Strafing is easily executed by pressing the C-Right or C-Left buttons. Although there are no save points in the different levels, you can save your game after the successful completion of each stage. You will need a Nintendo 64 Controller Pak to save your game as Quake II doesn't offer EEPROM saving. We have put together this quick and dirty walkthrough guide that tells you exactly what to do in all of the game's levels.
