Contracts
Heists are what PayDay 2 is all about: choose a job, perform it, get paid, and get rich!
All heists are taken by contracts from Crime.Net, which can be accessed from the laptop in the basement of your Safe house or from the main menu. There are only so many types of contracts, which determines the map and the overall mission objectives. The types are listed below, and each one has its own page for details.
Still, not every heist will play out the same way, even among the same type. Some factors are randomized, such as the location of your getaway van. If you're playing with other players, the exact mix of skills among you (not to mention personal player skill) will change the dynamic of the mission too. Finally, the individual contract may have additional difficulty, which provides a hazard pay bonus, but will make you face tougher challenges and enemies.
As such, heists are designed to be played many, many times over. You will likely find your favorites, either because of their payout, or because of their challenge. Regardless, as long as you're doing hiests and gaining cash and XP, there is no right or wrong way to go about “business.”
You'll want to stick with easy contracts at the very beginning, but otherwise, take contracts that interest you; don't worry about any specific order you should or shouldn't take them in.
If you're new to PayDay franchise, you may want to check out our Heist Basics page to read some of the finer points of the game that it doesn't explain to you.
Note that heist availability is level-based. When you're just starting out, you won't see some of those best heists. If you have a high-level friend, they can invite you into one, but you won't be able to host it.
