Things to Do First in Hello Kitty Island Adventure
You have just touched down, albeit a little unceremoniously, in Hello Kitty Island Adventure! With so much island to explore, friends to get to know, and activities to do, where do you even start?
This is a vacation after all, and the island is here for you to take any adventure you want at your own leisure. If you are not sure where to begin or need some pointers on what not to miss in early-game, on this page of IGN’s Hello Kitty Island Adventure you can find some suggestions for what to do first when playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure.
Start Collecting Resources Right Away
Every single resource counts! There is only a set amount of resources that appear in each area every day. While you can use Flower Bouquets earned from Daily Check-Ins to respawn all the resources on the island, these are rare to come by, especially at the start.
Many of the resources found on the Seaside Resort area of the island are crucial to progressing swiftly through early game. Explore every nook and cranny to find as much Rubber, Sticks, and Sand Dollars as you can.
Keep an Eye Out For Strawberry Crates
One of the first things My Melody will ask for your help with is tracking down some of the Strawberry Crates that fell around the island when your airplane crash landed. While you only need a handful to help My Melody open up her shop and fix up the first Visitor Cabin, you will need a lot more if you hope to get the island in tip-top shape.
Strawberry Crates can be found all around the island… even down in the ocean! Collect as many Strawberry Crates as you can while out exploring. You will need Strawberry Crates to repair Visitor Cabins you discover in other areas.
Deliver All of My Melody’s Welcome Gifts
Who doesn’t love a little welcome present? Talk with My Melody at the start of the Hello Kitty Island Adventure, and she will ask for your help handing out the Welcome Gifts she had planned to give out to her fellow Sanrio friends (excluding Retsuko).
Finding all of the Characters and giving them their Welcome Gift is crucial to getting started in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Gifting a Character one of My Melody’s Welcome Gifts will instantly make that Character a New Friend. With so much of the story progression locked behind increasing your Friendship level with Characters, you will want to get a head start as soon as possible.
Learn How to Swim From Keroppi
You won’t be able to swim or even step into any water around the island until you get the Flippers from Keroppi. And let’s face it, being able to swim is quite crucial when your new home is on an island… surrounded by water.
Talk to Chococat after giving him his Welcome Gift, to start the “Power Up the Gate” quest. This will open the gate to Seaside Resort, giving you access to the Spooky Swamp, where both Keroppi and Kuromi live. Talk with Keroppi in the Spooky Swamp to learn how to craft a pair of Flippers and gain the ability to swim through water.
Talk to Pochacco About Gudetama
What is an island adventure without a little sightseeing? Talk to Pochacco after gifting him My Melody’s Welcome Gift, and he just might have a suggestion for how you should get started.
Like Pochacco, you might have already noticed the little stationary Gudetama figures all throughout the island. While you can’t interact with these Gudetama, you can photograph them! By talking with Pochacco about the Gudetama, you will unlock the Camera tool. Use the Camera to take selfies of yourself with hidden Gudetama that you discover around the island, or even to commemorate special moments with your Sanrio friends!
Make Kuromi Your Best Friend
Cute and spooky, who wouldn’t want to be Kuromi’s best friend? Well, becoming friends with Kuromi in Hello Kitty Island Adventure is actually quite crucial. Unlocking new levels of Friendship with Kuromi unlocks lots of new quests that must be completed in order to progress further in the game. For example, you can only learn the ability to dive by completing the Deep Diving quest for Kuromi.
Get the Jack-O-Lantern Crafting Plans early on for an easy two-star gift. This way you can gift Kuromi plenty of pumpkins and Jack-O-Lanterns to quickly level up your friendship.
Unlock Fast Travel ASAP
It’s a big island, and while exploring is a big part of the adventure, no one likes to be running back and forth all the time. Unlock the Fast Travel Mailboxes as soon as you can to make traveling around the island a breeze.
To unlock Fast Travel, you will first need to find Kuromi over in the Spooky Swamp, an area that is only accessible after completing the “Power Up the Gate” quest with Chococat. Find Kuromi and complete the “Delivery Service” quest to learn from Cinnamoroll how to activate any Fast Travel Mailbox you find!
