Batman Arkham Origins |
Batman: Arkham Origins is a prequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Arkham Origins was released October 25, 2013 for the PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. This title will not be appearing on the Xbox One or the Playstation 4. [n
Batman: Arkham Origins was not be developed by Rocksteady Studios, the developer of the previous two Arkham games. Instead, Origins was created in-house at Warner Bros. Games Montreal.
The new development team used many of the assets and technology tidbits that Rocksteady used in the previous two games, including its customized Unreal engine. Eric Holmes, lead designer of games including The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Prototype, headed up the project. [1]
Setting
As the title suggests, Batman: Arkham Origins takes place long before both of the existing Arkham titles, when a young and inexperienced Batman will encounter many villains for the first time. [2] Arkham Origins follows Batman through a variety of familiar locales throughout Gotham City. The plot is about 8 assassins after him for a $50 Million bounty on his head set by Black Mask, but not only are assassins after him, but the police departmant is ALSO after him. Will the Dark knight come out on top this time, and what effect does it have on the arkham storyline. Let's find out.
Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate
Alongside the console game though, Warner Bros. released a handheld title, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate. The game, which was released on PS Vita and 3DS again on October 25, is set after the events of Arkham Origins and is being developed by Armature Studio, the company that was founded by several of the brains behind the Metroid Prime trilogy. With this in mind, it's not too surprising to find it described as a "2.5-D Metroid-style exploration action game".
