Mission 8: CMGN Tower, Saigon
This mission, unlike the last two, takes place entirely on foot. You won't ski or drive. Bond's mission: to retrieve a crucial Data Disk and destroy some important Weapons Crates stored in Carver's CMGN media tower. You get an Auto 9mm for this mission, but we recommend using the trusty old Assault Rifle instead.
You start out on a rooftop facing an elevator. Turn around. You'll see a ramp leading up and a pair of guards off to one side. Equip the Auto 9mm and run toward the guards. As soon as a red target cursor appears on one of them, let him have it while still running forward. Strafe sideways a bit after a second of firing, so that you catch the other guard and kill him, too. Collect Med Kits and clips from the wall where the guards stood. Run back to the base of the ramp and press up against the wall. If you don't do this, a sniper atop the wall will fire at you. Don't go up the ramp yet.
Equip the Assault Rifle you took from the dead guards and enter Sniper mode while looking up the ramp. Kill a lone guard atop the ramp, then run up, still hugging the wall. Slow down near the top of the ramp and turn toward the corner. You'll see several guards waiting around the corner. Get close to the corner and enter Sniper mode. Pick the guards off one by one with the PK7.
After you kill all of the bad guys, collect Light Armor sitting on a railing nearby. Equip the Assault Rifle. Run farther up the ramp, watching for a sniper on your left. Strafe close to the sniper and kill him. You'll see two metal boxes on the roof up here. Strafe behind one of them and kill an unwary sniper. Collect an ammo case. Then, while watching for a couple more guards who may or may not appear, strafe behind the other box. You'll see Heavy Armor. Do not take it yet! You should still have some of your Light Armor left.
Run down the ramp you haven't explored yet and, after verifying that nobody waits at the bottom, take a right. As you round a second corner, strafe and move forward to kill a guard waiting behind it. Then, making sure you have lots of bullets in your current Assault Rifle clip, continue forward and kill two more guards. Remember to strafe slightly and always advance until you get a red target cursor on your enemies.
A key and a Large Med Kit wait at the end of this path. Take these items and return to the base of the ramp. Take the other path at the base of the ramp. It leads to a box on the wall. Press O while standing near the box to open it and activate the elevator. Return to the elevator located near your initial starting point, collecting the Heavy Armor as you go. Enter the elevator and press the button to go down a floor.
When the elevator opens, shoot a guard in the back. You follow the hallway either forward or to the left. First go left, making sure to strafe behind cover before entering the hallway, and kill any guards you see there. Then back up and go cautiously forward. When the hallway branches to the right, strafe around the corner and kill a pair of guards there. Take the door in this branch of the hallway. It leads to a small armory containing bullet clips and ammo cases. Take the gear and get back to the main hallway.
Follow the main hallway, strafing as you run and killing any guards that appear. Strafe around a corner and take out still more guards. When you reach a second corner and kill even more guards, you'll find a golden 007 spinning in the hallway. Take it. Keep following the hallway until you see translucent doors on the left. Open them and attack two guards in the television room beyond. Take cover and use Sniper mode if you want to be extra careful.
Inside of the television room, approach a section of wall covered with stereo components. Press O to make it slide back and reveal a secret room. Crouch down and shoot a guard in the secret room, then enter it and collect a golden Elevator Card from the floor. Return to the elevator and press the button to go up another floor. Kill two guards outside the elevator and approach the only door up here. Bond will automatically try to open it, but bad guys will surprise him and club him unconscious.
Bond awakens in a large room. Carver and his goons hold him captive. Watch as Bond grabs his PK7 and engineers an escape. As soon as you return to live action, run forward and collect a fallen guard's Assault Rifle from the floor. Until you get the heavy gun, use the PK7. Switch to the Assault Rifle and finish off the remaining guard. Collect another Assault Rifle from the floor and go through an open doorway.
Follow a hallway, carefully taking out three guards along the way. At the end of the hallway you'll find a door. Open the door and drop back, shooting a crate beyond the door repeatedly with Bond's PK7. The durable Weapons Crate eventually explodes. Have Bond slowly approach the door again and take out a pair of guards lying in wait to the left. At that point, Bond can finally enter the room, collect two large Med Kits from the floor, and destroy a second Weapons Crate.
After Bond destroys all of the crates, go through a short hallway and then through a door. Strafe into the computer room beyond the door, killing two guards. Go through a small gray door into another computer room. Grab a red Data Disk from this small room.
Return to the larger computer room and notice that one side opens into another room. Run through the opening into a lounge with a large window. Kill two guards in this lounge, then shoot out the window. Bond will automatically escape through the window and the mission ends.
Mission 9: Market District, Saigon
In this mission you play Wai Lin, a superagent who is the Chinese equivalent of James Bond. You'll see no noticeable difference between playing as Bond and playing as Wai Lin. You must accomplish a long list of objectives for this mission, so stick to the walkthrough. Though you'll face a boss and a tough combat helicopter in this mission, the usual array of guards and soldiers will probably provide your biggest threat. Proceed with caution and use the skills you've developed to this point.
You start out on a street. Run forward toward a corner and kill a guard. Walk through a gray door straight ahead. The door leads to a room with two guards. Run forward until you get a lock on the guard straight ahead of you. Kill him, then spin left and shoot at a guard standing behind a wooden crate. If you hit the crate instead of the guard, don't worry, the crate will explode and kill him.
Open a door on the other side of the room. As you exit, look left and gun down a guard. Turn right and follow the street. You'll see a long set of stairs rising up from the street on your right. Strafe up the stairs, pointing inward toward the ledge that the stairs approach. You must kill a guard on the way up.
Upstairs, on the ledge, you'll see a series of four alcoves. Each alcove contains Light Armor. The first and third alcoves also contain guards. Collect armor from the first and second alcoves and kill the guards. Leave the Light Armor in the third and fourth alcoves for later. Follow the ledge around a corner, killing a guard in the process. Take a flight of stairs leading down. Downstairs you'll see a door. Strafe around the corner and kill a guard in the hallway beyond.
Follow the hallway to another corner. Strafe back and forth from the cover of the corner to kill three guards in a small barroom. Don't kill the civilian behind the bar. Collect a Large Med Kit from behind the bar and go through the nearby door. Follow the street to a T-junction and watch for guards on your right.
At the T-junction, go left. The street soon ends in a well-lit door you can't penetrate. Kill a guard here and notice a darker door to the right of the well-lit one. You can go through the door on the right. Do so and proceed up a flight of stairs. Upstairs, go through a door. You're now on a rooftop with several enemies, including a boss with the RL 66 Rocket Launcher you're trying to collect.
First, eliminate all three guards. Keep moving as much as possible while killing them. When it's just you and the boss, notice three raised obstacles in the middle of the roof. You can easily fire over the flat-topped obstacles on the ends. But the middle obstacle is taller than the other two and if you keep this middle obstacle between Wai Lin and the boss at all times, he cannot fire his Rocket Launcher at the agent. The trick to beating this boss is to run circles around this middle obstacle constantly, shooting the boss quickly when he chases you around one side, then moving to put the obstacle between the two of you again.
After the fight, collect the RL 66 from the ground and exit through the door you haven't used yet. Go down the stairs to a street. Follow the street around a bend and kill a soldier in a doorway, then run into the doorway while a gun turret shoots at you from behind some barricades. Pop in and out of the doorway, firing the Rocket Launcher at the barricades and the turret. After you destroy the turret, switch to the Assault Rifle and clean out any guards hiding behind the wreckage.
Around the corner, approach another barricade-and-turret combination. Level the roadblocks and turrets with the Rocket Launcher, then switch to the Assault Rifle to clear out any guards here. Look around the corner near the wreckage and kill any guards there. Before rounding the corner, make sure you've leveled all of the barricades and turrets in this area. Round the corner and move down the street. You'll approach outdoor stairs. Go up the stairs and collect the two Light Armors. Go back down the stairs and keep moving in the direction you headed before you climbed them.
As you follow the street past the outdoor stairs, you'll reach a corner with gray doors ahead. Go through the gray doors, which take you into a room you visited earlier. Cross this room and go out through doors on the other side. Now you're back in the street. Turn right and approach another barricade-and-turret combination. Before you get too close, strafe left into a side street. You can now pop in and out of the cover on this side street, firing Rockets until you destroy the turret. Keep an eye out for the sniper on a ledge above the turret and the soldier behind it. After Wai Lin destroys the turret, immediately seek shelter in the side street again, then use the lean-and-snipe technique to take out the bad guys from behind the corner.
After you destroy the turret and kill the sniper and soldier, slowly walk toward the left side of the wreckage. Stop before you get to the corner. Two snipers lurk on a rooftop behind the left corner. Use the lean-and-snipe method to take both of them out. Now go around the corner. As you walk past the spot where the snipers sat, you'll see that the street splits. You can either go forward and slightly to the left, or right. Take the right. This leads you to a dead end but, if you look around, you'll see a discolored wall in one corner of the dead end. Shoot this wall with the Rocket Launcher. It breaks away to reveal a narrow hidden staircase.
Run up the stairs and along a ledge, collecting Armor, Med Kits, and ammo along the way. Run all of the way to the end of the ledge, which protects you from an open courtyard below. Use the lean-and-snipe technique to kill three soldiers hiding behind sandbags in the courtyard. Leave this secret area after killing all three guards, then backtrack to the street intersection. Take the other path. It leads you into the courtyard where you just killed the guards. Collect the fallen guards' Assault Rifles, then follow a long, well-lit tunnel leading away from here.
At the end of the tunnel sits a big, open courtyard with a helicopter flying above. Run around this area to scope it out and to see if any guards patrol on foot nearby. If you see any guards, kill them quickly. Keep on the move at all times so the helicopter's Rockets won't hit you. Take care to avoid explosive barrels, which the helicopter's attacks might detonate.
After you kill the guards, find two small wooden walls and position yourself squarely between them. These walls will catch some of the helicopter's Machine Gun and Rocket attacks. The chopper will destroy your protection quickly, but every bullet they intercept is one less bullet that hits you.
As soon as you reach this semi-protected site, switch to the RL 66 Rocket Launcher, find the helicopter in the sky, and enter Sniper mode. Immediately start rapid-firing Rockets at the helicopter. Lead the helicopter just slightly or aim for the front of it. Squeeze the button as quickly as possible after you aim. The speed of the Rocket Launcher will surprise you. You can fire a lot of Rockets in a short period of time. If you run out of Rocket Launcher ammo, you can find more scattered around this yard. But if you aim well, you won't need it. You can drop the helicopter with fewer than ten Rocket hits.
After you destroy the helicopter, equip your Assault Rifle and locate a small wooden gate. Go through the gate, sticking to the left wall of the street beyond it. The street leads to another courtyard, this one containing two particularly alert guards. Kill both guards, backtracking if necessary, then enter the courtyard. On the other side of the courtyard, enter a tunnel. As you approach the tunnel, Wai Lin will automatically move to a computer, where she must enter a code. The code changes every time you play. You can break the code simply through a process of trial and error. The mission ends as soon as you get the code right.
