Dredge is fantastic game.
Dredge is appears as a peaceful fishing simulator but as you explore the world around you, things are not quite as they seem. As you head out to fish for the local wildlife and sell and upgrade your boat, you explore the different islands this small world had to offer. But the more you fish and the explore, the more mysteries you find, the more you want to explore more!
The writing and dialogue is simple but intriguing. As you meet the different characters you feel apart of a Charles dickens mystery as it keeps spinning.
Curiosity is so important in games as it gives you a reason to keep coming back and playing more. Dredge is full of curiosity for the player, as it simply presents you with a world and invites you to do the rest.

Hogwarts Legacy is a magical experience for the Harry Potter fans, but when you look at it as just a game, I was really disappointed.
The game captures the sense of the Harry Potter books and movies as you cast spells and brew potions in a hugely unique way that feels fun and exciting. Exploring the famous areas of Hogwarts Castle and Hogsmead feel unreal as you pick out your wand from ……….. and take your very own defence against the dark arts class. The atmosphere as you walk the halls feels so unique and magical and really captures the true Harry Potter experience.
This, for me, however, didn’t last long. Behind this Hogwarts experience was just a simple and boring game with not so interesting characters and an open world that had nothing to offer.
The combat was cool and unique and was probably my favourite part of the game. Combining spells for combos and switching between different spell sets made tackling enemies fun and engaging. But the repetitive enemy types made each encounter no different from the previous, which caused missions and side missions all to feel the same.
The open world was completely unnecessary and so bare that exploring it was boring and worthless. The small towns you find all feel the same with little to uncover and the landscapes are bare with only your basic enemy forts that have been overused in many games before this.
Overall if you’re a big fan of Harry Potter you will probably be a big fan of this- otherwise expect a game you’ve played many times before and not much else.

It’s hard to explain the joys this game brought me without saying too much.
Games are incredible platforms that can tell stories in such unique ways. Inscription is yet another example of a truly unique adventure that can only be experienced through gameplay. The remarkable writing and sound design completely enveloped me into the dark and moody atmosphere this game had, and the simple but addictive game loop kept me ticking along, but still provided enough of a challenge to keep me entertained.
But the absolute best thing about was is @%$£sf3r5^%@$%…………..

This was my first time playing a Supermassive game. I’m usually used to having my girlfriend play as I watch along, making the whole experience a movie for me. But at last, it was my turn to control the narrative.
The Quarry is your classic kids at camp slasher horror story, with its own unique twists and turns along the way. You play as each camper as you explore the mysteries of the woods around you.
I found the whole experience fun and entertaining, however the gameplay side of things fell a bit flat for me.

Playing through I found myself connecting to most of the characters and enjoyed really thinking about each choice as they came up. The scenarios and pacing worked well and the intertwining of the different stores layered really nicely together. The performances were great for the most part, though everything felt very downplayed and a bit one tone, which at times took me out of the games’ tense scenes.
Gameplay wise the times where you actually take control of a character and search for secrets and clues didn’t feel too interesting as there wasn’t much to find. Also, I found the torch mechanics so irritating as it seemed to be impossible to aim it where you intended.
Overall, despite its short comings, I would recommend to anyone who hasn’t played this genre of game. Interactive movies are so fun to play - especially with company - and Supermassive Games seem to have cracked the formula.

Alan Wake was a game I had always wanted to play and deep down kind of knew I would really like. I loved Control when it came out so when Alan Wake Remastered was announced for the PS5 it felt like a sign.
1 loved it. The uniqueness of the story and gameplay felt so refreshing to play, and it's episodic structure was a surprise at first but felt great as I would step away after each episode and return on a different day instead of burning out the story to just 'get through'.
I was introduced to Remedy's world building through
Control and was a big fan of all the details in everything you picked up and read. This was exactly the same in Alan Wake, as I loved listening to every possible bit of dialogue and experiencing all the weird and wonderful radio shows and TV clips that popped up throughout the run. The voice acting and performances were really top class and made the experience even more fun.
The strategy of using a flash light and gun made for tense encounters and the constant unpredictable swam of the enemies forming out of the darkness always kept me on edge and at times even made me jump.
The best part for me however was the story. You start off completely unaware of what could happen and along side Alan discover and begin to understand whats happening as everything slowly comes together in the end.
Such unique game experiences can be hard to come by nowadays but Alan Wake (Technically Alan Wake
Remastered for me) was such a fun thrill ride, and I can't wait for what's next.
