I wouldn’t say this is my favorite RE game, but it is thoroughly entertaining. The combat and difficult are carefully balanced, and the graphics and presentation are top-notch. Some of the level design, even with a refresh, feels dated — particularly the castle section in the middle of the game. And while the lore is interesting, the story itself is milquetoast at best. But, as a package, this is a fantastic action-horror game.

Didn’t click with me the first time; but, with the latest updates and Phantom Liberty DLC, a 125-hour journey led to incredible story moments, a sense of immersion really only rivaled by Rockstar Games, and solid looter-shooter underpinnings. The game doesn’t have the strongest introduction mechanics-wise, even to date, but if you stick with it, you’ll be awe-struck by the end.
Truly, the best praise I can give this game is that it will leave you with a hole inside after you complete it — I bounced off of several other “great” games following this one, judging each and saying to myself “yeah, no, I need something better. Better story telling, better characters, better immersion, better loot, just… better. Man, I kinda miss Night City.”
Goodnight and Good Luck, Night City.

I thoroughly enjoyed this game—up to the endgame, which is atrocious. S&B is two things: combat; merchant trading. In that sense, this sort of has a weird vibe of Sid Meier’s “Pirates!” AC: Black Flag this is not, and hence it streamlines to “you are the pirate ship,” and not so much hand-to-hand combat and jumping off the ship organically. This is menu-driven, combat-driven, and a light looter-shooter hook.
Thoroughly enjoyed my time. Ignore haters.
That said, the endgame develops into a PvP/PvE empire conquest mode that, in truth, is a glorified paper boy delivery route as you make sure your factories are stocked up. And when you realize the endgame currency requires this and is a hard lock to progression, you — like me — will see the extreme grind and quit until this is patched out.

The most on-rails Final Fantasy, perhaps ever. It is solid in story telling, lore, and graphical presentation; but, a Final Fantasy game this is not. Devil May Fantasy — but otherwise unremarkable in th*****s of RPGs.

Fantastic remake of the original souls-like. Perhaps not as innovative or grand in scope as the latest FromSoft iteration — like Elden Ring — but a great starting point (or nostalgic return) for fans of the genre generally.

Absolutely stellar strategy-RPG. This reminds me a lot of the battle phases of early Suikoden games — rich in character drama, strategic rock/paper/scissors decision-making between units, and battlefield stratagems to make abrupt changes to otherwise impossible situations But, and I think this is the biggest selling point, it’s also mashed with the excellent auto-battling systems of Final Fantasy XII, choosing different present conditions to meld unique, powerful unit combos. The options and customization is truly endless.
This is Vanillaware’s best work, hands down. BUY IT, the industry deserves this level of innovation and care.

A bit linear, and sometimes feels more like a tech demo with bolted-on side content, but the sheer production value, fantastic story and animations, and nostalgia factor drive this one home hard. Loved every second of it, even if it had some rough edges.

The graphics leave something to be desired, and the story is just bad. But, if you go at this game like a survival looter, as I did, you’ll have a lot of fun with it for 40-50 hours. After that, I think the progression systems start to buckle on top of each other and make this feel more like an arcade beat-em-up than an immersive zombie survival-horror. To be honest, I had a better overall time with DL2’s sibling, Dead Island 2—and that game suffered development hell.
After beating it, I’ve tried to come back multiple times, but always promptly turned it off after 15 minutes. Not a good sign.

This is effectively FarCry Primal painted with an avatar motif. As such, it’s a fun time and there are genuinely good ideas (the foraging is excellent, challenging you to do more than mash buttons to collect items for crafting). However, the story is horrifically bad (I ended up just skipping it after the first third of the game), and the combat is incredibly one-dimensional despite the robust crafting systems — use the sniper bow and pick everyone off, rinse and repeat. Do anything else, particularly out of stealth, and you are severely punished and don’t end up having the resources you need to create advanced ammo types — a strange decision to force a particular play style.
That said, the world is GORGEOUS. This is probably the most realized forest(y) world I’ve ever explored, though I could certainly skip the highlands biome — it was a snore fest. The final biome is an absolute treat.
All told, this will offer you a good time, but one you’ll likely speed through by the end due to some ill-conceived mechanics and a banal story.

I haven’t had this much plain fun with a game in years. This is a simple offer: gorgeous game, set in LA, where you beat the snot out of zombies. There’s also some light customization and exploration. The story disappoints, however. To be frank, this was so much more enjoyable than Dying Light 2 despite the apparent development hell.

An okay-ish game, but it leans HEAVILY into platforming, so much so that the level designs and world immersion seem deeply artificial. Don’t go in expecting anything remotely like an RPG or action-adventure. This is Mario, skinned over with Star Wars.

AC6 didn’t click for me, at first. The mission-based structure — many missions, of which, are very short — and a bland story, something-something about “coral,” left a bad first impression.
But, if you stick with it, the combat and customization are incredible and you can actually go back through missions for more money and finding hidden collectibles. The story flatly sucks, but the gameplay itself definitely grows on you the more you dig in.
Enjoyed it by the end. Solid 8/10 if I’ve ever seen one.
