While my first introduction to the Civ franchise was a board game, this was my first intro to the PC game series. It was amazing at the time, but doesn’t quite hold up to Civ IV or V in my opinion.
I probably have 80 hours in.
This was my first game purchase in college. I never played Civ II, but from what I can understand it took the same mechanics that lead to the “one more turn” feeling and modernized everything.
I don’t think it holds up anymore. Civ IV is different enough from V, and from what I understand from VI, so if you want an introduction to the series, start with one of them.
