ok, i get that this is undeniably the most controversial game in the series. it removed pretty much all of storm 1’s cool mechanics, it shortened the ultimate jutsu and removed the interactivity with them, the free roam controls aren’t even close to as good, it’s a mess. however, there is something so special about this game that i cannot understate enough, putting aside the storm trilogy verison’s bizarre issues.
roaming around this ninja world has this super weird yet undeniable charm to it. the sketchy backgrounds, the camera shots, all of the little corners on each location the game doesn’t tell you about, the infectious music, it’s simply bliss. the soundtrack is also so indescribably beautiful that i would have to call it the best in any of these games! the story was done supreme justice here, it’s mind-boggling! it isn’t perfect put the pacing is so much more brisk and interesting with its compacted runtime, they put genuine care into the story and characters throughout the whole game and they even go out of their way to fix minor issues with the original story, it’s truly amazing! the gameplay is also surprisingly fun and noticeably faster than storm 1, even if it’s not as interesting. the bosses have truly been expanded upon greatly from storm 1 with each of them having their own gameplay hook that is super engaging, and the quick-time events are magnificent! there is even some fun to be had in this game’s structure. the game lets you explore in between chapters which actively encourages me to do the side-missions which is pretty remarkable. speaking of which, even the side-missions are solid! they are short, but sweet!
the perfect word to describe this game is ‘magical’. it’s a magical experience from start to finish. storm 2 will forever be my favourite naruto storm. it’s truly an underrated gem that i highly recommend.
im really biased for naruto games but this one is one of (if not) the best for me, great story adaptation, really upgrade in mechanics from the first Storm game and the soundtrack is just peak perfection 🤌🤌
