The First Descendant Launch Issues Results in Free In-Game Rewards

Having spent a bit of time in Beta, NEXON‘s third-person shooter The First Descendant was recently released. However, there have been some notable issues with the game since launch, which has led to the developer issuing not only an apology, but some free rewards to make up for it.

The First Descendant launch issues are being addressed

According to a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), NEXON has offered sincere apologies to The First Descendant fans for the “inconvenience caused during the opening day.”

In order to make amends, the studio has “prepared compensation” for players. An update on the game’s Steam page details that players can get the following:

  • Gold Gain Boost +30% (Duration 3 days)
  • Kyper Shard Gain Boost +30% (Duration 3 days)
  • Descendant EXP Gain Boost +30% (Duration 3 days)
  • Weapon Mastery EXP Gain Boost +30% (Duration 3 days)
  • 2 x Matte Red Paints

In order to qualify for these bonuses, Descendants have until 23:59 PDT on Sunday, 7 July 2024 to log into the game in order to receive their compensation. The Compensation Mail, as the message on Steam refers to it, will officially expire on July 14.

On top of this, the developer has been noting the issues that have occurred since launching at the end of June. The most recent update says the team has been receiving reports of frame drops on pre-downloads of the game.

The studio says it’s investigating, but for now, players can simply delete and reinstall. The studio will also “strive to provide a more stable service.”

The launch issues with The First Descendant have had an effect on player feedback in the short time it’s been out. Steam shows a review score of Mixed. However, it’s currently at the number two spot on the Top Seller’s list. Perhaps NEXON’s offer of free in-game bonuses will be able to appease fans until fixes arrive.
