Asmodee proudly announces the nomination of Ticket to Ride® Legacy: Legends of the West, a game from Days of Wonder studio, for the Kennerpiel des Jahres (Advanced Game of the Year), unveiled during today’s ceremony. The Spiel des Jahres is a collection of German awards considered the most prestigious in the boardgame industry benefiting from global recognition. Asmodee is also honored that Forest Shuffle from Lookout Games and Harmonies from Libellud were mentioned as part of the Jury’s longlist. This nomination for the Kennerspiel des Jahres is a significant recognition for Asmodee and its studios, full of the most passionate and committed professionals in the board game industry.

On the back of a fantastic 2023 year, where Asmodee studios won the Kennerspiel des Jahres with Challengers! and the Kinderspiel des Jahres (Kid game of the year) with Mysterium Kids: Captain Echo’s Treasure as well as two Sonderpreis (special jury prizes) for Unlock! and Unlock! Kids, Asmodee hopes another trophy will garner the trophy case. “Being nominated for such awards is always a great moral and confidence boost for all the Asmodee teams involved in making the best board games of the industry. Ticket to Ride Legacy: Legends of the West, from Days of Wonder, designed by Alan R. Moon, Matt Leacock, Rob Daviau and illustrated by Cyrille Daujean and Julien Delval, is nominated for the Kennerspiel des Jahres.

Ticket to Ride® Legacy: Legends of the West finally gives players the chance to step into the story of their favorite train game and explore the imagination of Rob Daviau, Matt Leacock and Alan R. Moon. Players are embarking on a journey across twelve games, managing their own North American railway company to wealth and fortune in a campaign full of adventures.

Completing tickets remains the primary goal, but players will need to develop other skills hoping to overcome the unexpected events and resourceful rivals. Game after game, route after route, players will continuously fill their vaults with earnings. As the story progresses, new rules, content, and many more surprises will be unlocked.

The original Ticket to Ride® was released already 20 years ago and won the Spiel des Jahres back in 2004!

This nomination is a significant recognition of the tireless work of all the teams involved in the success of these games. The official award ceremony will take place on Sunday, July 21, 2024, in Berlin. Regardless of the outcome of the award ceremony, Asmodee is already proud of this special recognition.
