Neil Thomas is a Professor of Clinical Psychology and Digital Health at Swinburne University of Technology and an Honorary Consultant Clinical Psychologist with the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. He is Director of two of Swinburne's online research and training clinics: the National eTherapy Centre, and the Voices Clinic. Neil's research aims to empower people to improve mental health. He leads research spanning psychological therapies, digital interventions, mental health service delivery, and the psychological processes involved in mental health. He has particular interests in psychological models and interventions for severe mental health problems (e.g. psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder), and persisting hallucinations or ‘hearing voices’ as an experience. Much of his treatment research incorporates digital technologies, including telehealth, online self-management programs, mobile devices and virtual reality.
