Dragster, released in 1980 for the Atari 2600, is the first video game developed by Activision. It was programmed by David Crane, who later wrote Pitfall! The object of the game is to either beat the player's opponent across the screen, or to race against the clock for best time, depending on the settings used.
The game is well known as having the first console speedrun with the world record of 5.51 by Todd Rogers in 1982 according to Twin Galaxies. This record is known as the oldest, unbeaten world record in all of speedrunning.
MrWint & Omnigamer decided to try and match the elusive 5.51, and disassembled the entire game looking for how the 5.51 was achieved. After conducting their research, they found that the long sought 5.51 was outright impossible to achieve within the internal conditions of the game. After lots of flamewars, the now infamous Todd Rogers's record has been taken down, leading to his ban from Twin Galaxies.
This run achieves the fastest possible time of 5.57 on player two while also maximizing the distance, with player one completing the track in the lowest amount of input frames. It also improves the predecessor movie by 00:00.10 seconds, which translates to 00:00.02 seconds if you discard emulation differences. The improvement comes from the fact that the game processes the second player first, so he's the one taking the lead this time.

Otocky was created by Toshio Iwai in 1987 and was only released in Japan for the Famicom Disk System. It is best described as a musical side-scrolling shoot 'em up where the primary weapon is a ball which, when fired in one of eight directions, plays different musical notes on the primary instrument quantized to the beat of the background music.
Needless to say, when such a weapon is put into the hands of a tool-assisted speedrunner, you might just find yourself humming along to the end result.

This game is Super Mario Bros., the original, but on the Famicom Disk System. It is much similar to the ROM version of the game, except for one minor difference that is demonstrated here.
The -1 stage is completely different. In the NES and Unisystem versions, the -1 stage repeats infinitely and cannot be completed, but in FDS, it can be completed, and then come -2 and -3.
The -3 stage in FDS is a castle level, and completing it ends the game, even though it says "princess is in another castle". The princess is not seen in the ending, but she is sighted twice in the -1 stage, as shown in this movie.
This movie is 84 frames faster than the previous one due to the use of a "cheap trick".

Battletoads is a classic video game by Rare for the NES, but different versions of the game were also made for many other systems, such as the Genesis and the Game Boy. All of these games are known for their comical animation style (such as gigantic fists and boots when the toads attack) and their high difficulty, essentially requiring the player to memorize the upcoming dangers to react fast enough to survive.
In this version, the player plays as the Battletoad Zitz on a quest to rescue the other two Toads, Rash and Pimple, from the Dark Queen. This game has only 9 stages, as opposed to 12 in the NES version. However, unlike the NES version of the game, there are no warps, and there is no two-player option. There are also fewer time-saving glitches. That doesn't stop Lobsterzelda, though, from beating up tons of enemies and completing the game very quickly.
In this run, Lobsterzelda improves the predecessor movie by 01:09.37 minutes by using a new skip and tighter optimization.

Catrap is a platform/puzzle game where a boy and girl work through a series of 100 puzzles. This breaks a curse and returns them to human form. Completing each level involves climbing ladders and moving blocks so that each enemy can be defeated. A rewind function is present for trail+error attempts to get to the solutions. But that feature isn't needed here.
This run makes clever use of the switch mechanics. Switch can't be used immediately after defeating an enemy, so other actions are performed while the enemy falls off the screen. Attacking from the ladder is slightly faster, the author uses this and other similar tricks to help save time.

This game, also known as Rockman World (ロックマンワールド), is the first of a GB series of Mega Man games.
The Game Boy series is a little different from the NES series in that there are only four Robot Masters to fight at the start. Those four are borrowed from the NES game of the same number, while four more Robot Masters from the next NES game guard Dr. Wily’s fortress. Game Boy Wily also likes to have a backup fortress in space after his first one is beaten. Another recurring concept in the Game Boy games is a ninth robot boss unique to the game who gives you a new weapon that is usually the only weapon effective against the final boss.

Anguna: Warriors of Virtue is an action-adventure homebrew game that was developed in 2008 for the Game Boy Advance. It would later see a port for the Nintendo DS and spinoffs created for the Atari 2600 and NES. Taking influence from The Legend of Zelda and other fantasy stories, you play as an unnamed protagonist that got themselves captured by the enemy while on a journey to defeat the dragon, leader of the monsters. You must now continue where you left off with the sword and unlocked door the monsters thoughtfully left for you.
In this run, Alyosha saves the lands from the dragon in record time with some odd glitching and RNG manipulation to get around quicker and with less hassle and a few moments of dying to cut down on travel time.

Alex "Action Man" Mann makes a stop over onto the Game Boy Color where once again he must stop the world from falling into the clutches of the evil Dr. X. The player takes control of Action Man as he travels through seven different levels ranging from jungles to the Arctic, battling a sizable army of robots with a variety of weapons and battle suits in search of Base X and stopping Dr. X from launching a terrifying new weapon that could very well bring an end to the world.
The game is a standard side-scrolling action platformer where the player advances through the levels by shooting at enemies and jumping over obstacles. Along the way, Action Man can find new items and suits which allow him to discover alternate routes, new levels, and even more items.
In this TAS, Noxxa runs and jumps through the game, carefully choosing items and paths and using a few tricks to finish the game as fast as possible.
