It's a solid game that generally has good pacing in giving you new mechanics. the Early game is definitely the most packed when it comes to quests with each reward being extremely helpful and will lead you to focus on them but later on the quests just become something to do and most of the rewards are stuff like +10 relations with USSR.

This is sort of a consequence of how the campaign is the shining star of the gamemodes. The campaign lets you choose the island map you use for each mission and it saves your progress for each island which is fantastic but it means most of the content in the late game is set around the missions objectives and events as opposed to random events and quests your stuck with in sandbox. The DLC specific scenarios are great once shots as well though they can discourage the city building elements in favor of whatever the specific expansion adds. There are some more extended quest chains in sandbox mainly from DLCs but unfortunately they are immediately canceled when you enter the next era.

The ONLY real issue I have had with the game which only popped up years after I started playing the game is that whenever I try to load or save the game it immediately crashes to desktop.

Without leaving any spoilers I loved how they did the campaign in this one, when it happened I was like "woah"
