A lot shorter than the original Frogun, but if you're playing it for the time trials -- which make these two games more than a cakewalk -- you'll get at least nine or ten hours out of it instead of five. The levels themselves are shorter than in the first game, but the limits on getting the diamond studs for time are more than correspondingly lower; so instead of just running through as efficiently as you can, you will have to find a way to flat-out break the level using the new tongue fling, where you jump mid-air while zipping horizontally across. You can even shoot small stationary objects directly in front of you and jump if you're fast enough, propelling you a long way in a big super-jump. I had a lot of fun engineering shortcuts -- and I guarantee there are countless things you can do that the developer hasn't even thought of.

Other than the tongue fling and double-jump, there are three things which make a big difference in how the sequel is played. Renata is faster (loved it, unequivocally). The camera is fixed this time, though; I have mixed feelings about it, because while it allows for quicker, twitchier play, it seriously cuts into the feeling of up-close adventure that the other game had, the way in which a chance rotation of the right stick might reveal a secretly nestled gem or hidden path. The lock-on, the third thing, took some getting used to but is actually fine; if you want to, you can set tongue aiming to be completely manual whenever you hit the right trigger, so Renata will be able to aim at objects that are not immediately apparent to the lock-on algorithm (mostly used for time trials and the trickier, level-breaking flings).

A good game and worth a thorough play for fans of the first! I will say it could have used, interspersed with the zippier levels, some up-close dungeons like the last game had, in which lock-on was disabled and the camera free floating. If there is a third Frogun, I also hope that damage and death are more of an impediment too.

(I think the time trial on the Secret Lab is broken, because it gave me diamond studs, but not the lower-ranking wings, said somewhere else that I hadn't earned either, and the boss wastes so much time between hittable periods that he inevitably eats up all your time advantage even if you get there in a little over a minute!)

Frogun Encore is one of those games where you can tell a lot of love was put into it, and someone is being very passionate about platformers while working on this.

This game really improves some things that were in the previous title. While I did beat it in quite a bit less time than the first game, every level seemed very smoothly designed. Camera angles are more fixed than in the prior title, and boss fights have changed up quite a bit. Overall, I'd say there are some massive improvements compared to the previous title, but both are incredibly enjoyable and fun to play. The world around it and graphics are very cheerful as well. Every single monster has its own bestiary entry, and cute names and designs. It's really worth to play this title if you're looking for a nice platformer!

Fun but buggy. Still, I had so much fun playing through and collecting things that it was pretty easy to forgive the bugs right now, especially from a solo developer.

This is a follow-up to the previous delightful platformer collectathon, now with two player and new levels. While some of the collectible bits got repetitive, I really liked the gimmicks to each stage, and really liked the boss encounters. And even though the hitboxes and telegraphs felt off a lot of the time, Renata has so much health that it wasn't really an issue.

Didn't get to test coop play, but it seems like it'd be neat and work well. The camera angle seems to be very tightly constrained to each part of the map to maximize visibility (unless you're speedrunning or going places you're not supposed to), which suits both single and doubles play.

Did have some weirdness with restarts over a death plane resulting in the game showing the loading screen indefinitely. Once I figured out the menu was still there and I could guess where restart was, it was less of an issue, but this should be patched honestly.

Overall: it's fun. If you like old school platformers, it's an easy recommend.
