This collection as a whole might be the peak of the Ace Attorney series so far, along with Investigations 2 (which is FINALLY getting localized). Labeling Chronicles as a collection of two games is a bit of a stretch; this is very much one long game where the first half is setup and the second half is payoff. The tried-and-true investigation and courtroom formula is done well, with the deduction dances and jury system acting as new twists to keep things fresh. Most of the cases are up there with the best of the series, and even the more middling ones are still enjoyable.

Visually, this is easily the best the series has ever looked. The animations are fluid and expressive and a joy to watch. The orchestral soundtrack is also delightful, and everything comes together in an excellent presentation of the setting and time period.

This is a must-play for fans of the series and could even be a good place to start if you're interested in Ace Attorney but somehow haven't bought the original trilogy collection that's been ported to every device known to man.

It seems my learned friend wishes to put their eyes upon the reviews. Let me save you the trouble by saying that this game is absolutely worth the price and that you should pick it up post haste. A toast... to this game's quality!

my feelings on this game are conflicted. it's rather charming at times, and the music is better than it has any right to be. it feels distinct from the original trilogy, but in a good way for the most part. the investigation sections feel like way less of a drag than they used to, and the setting is really interesting. there's just one big problem: the game is way too easy. the original trilogy made you feel clever when you got something right, and although it could get a bit tough at times, at least you could look up a guide. in this game, it kinda just feels like you're going through the motions of a plot without much thought. what's kinda frustrating is that there exists a character who seemingly exists to make fun of the insane connections the series teaches to you draw, only to then have you correct him with only slightly more reasonable-sounding, and incredibly obvious explanations. i'm almost definetly not getting across the dissonance this character made feel while playing. i should mention that i don't think i got very far in the game, so it might get better later on.

I found it hard to believe how literally everything ties together and is connected when it comes to plot. Being an Ace Attorney game, it was really predictable how the prosecutor gets prosecuted, again, and who the main bad guy ends up being, again. Also early 1900s holograms were a stupid addition.
