The Whirlwind was a Chiss starship part of the Chiss Ascendancy's Expansionary Defense Fleet. It was equipped with engines and could be brought to flight status in half an hour.[1] Around 19 BBY,[2] Expansionary Defense Fleet Supreme General Ba'kif traveled aboard the Whirlwind to the Ascendancy's planet Naporar to retrieve Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, who was undergoing physical therapy in Naporar's Chiss Expansionary Fleet medcenter. After four hours, the starship arrived at its destination, sending a Chiss shuttle to retrieve Thrawn.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The Whirlwind was mentioned in the current Star Wars canon continuity in the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, the first volume in Timothy Zahn's Ascendancy Trilogy.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Whirlwind was a warship that appeared in the 2006 novel Outbound Flight.[3]
