- "Senator Organa! My clone troops turned on me… I need help."
"We have just rescued Master Yoda. It appears this ambush has happened everywhere. We're sending you our coordinates." - ―Obi-Wan Kenobi and Bail Organa
The Tantive III (pronounced /ˈtæntɪˌvi 'θri:/),[5] also known as the Sundered Heart,[6] was the personal diplomatic cruiser of Senator Bail Organa of Alderaan[2] during the Clone Wars. Its captain was Raymus Antilles. Unlike other ships of its class, the Tantive III had a hangar large enough to fit a starfighter the size of Grievous's personal ship inside. It was used by the senator to rescue the Jedi Grand Master Yoda and Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, survivors of Order 66.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
The Tantive III first appeared briefly in Star Wars canon in the 2005 film Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith.[3] At the time of the film's release, it was widely assumed that it was the Tantive IV from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. However, Leland Chee, Lucasfilm Ltd.'s Keeper of the Holocron continuity database, later declared it was a different ship, the Sundered Heart, although that information was from Star Wars Legends.[7]
The canon version was identified as Tantive III in the 2016 edition of the reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations.[5] It was also identified as the Sundered Heart in the second issue of Star Wars Helmet Collection.[6]
