"Look, it's RB-551."
"No wonder he got blasted. He's one of those older models programmed by a central computer."
―Two battle droids, upon finding RB-551's head[2]

RB-551 was an older model B1-series battle droid who served within the droid army of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. In 21 BBY, the battle droid partook in the Confederacy's efforts to control the planet Ryloth, where he served as part of a battle droid patrol dispatched to locate the Twi'lek Resistance engaging the droid army in order to liberate the planet. However, RB-551 was destroyed alongside the patrol by the Twi'lek freedom fighters, which resulted in the Confederacy's dispatchment of additional battle droids to locate the lost patrol.

Biography[]

Radnor

During the Clone Wars, RB-551 participated in the Confederacy's invasion of Ryloth.

An older model of the B1-series battle droid controlled by a Central Control Computer, RB-551 served within the Confederacy of Independent Systems' droid army during the Clone Wars against the Galactic Republic.[2] In 22 BBY,[4] during the war, the planet[5] Ryloth was invaded by the Separatist Droid Army, including RB-551, under the leadership of Techno Union Foreman Wat Tambor.[2]

Sometime after the Confederacy's occupation of the planet,[2] in 21 BBY,[1] the droid army received opposition from the Twi'lek Resistance led by General Cham Syndulla, which had sought to liberate their homeworld from Separatist control. In an effort to destroy the Twi'lek resistance force, the Confederacy dispatched RB-551 alongside a patrol of other battle droids to[2] the cratered flatlands of Cazne[6] in order to locate their opposition. However, while moving through the area, RB-551 was destroyed alongside the droid patrol by the resistance forces. As a result, the Confederacy sent an additional battle droids to locate the missing patrol, the members of which reflected on RB-551's dependency on a central computer as a result of his destruction after locating his remains.[2]
