A customs droids was a type of droid used to monitor the cargo of starships to prevent the smuggling of contraband,^[2] and were also utilized by the Galactic Republic Customs of Coruscant to process immigrants at entry turnstiles on the planet Coruscant during the Clone Wars.^[1]

During the Iron Blockade, which was established by the Galactic Empire in an attempt to prevent news of their crushing defeat by the Alliance to Restore the Republic at the Battle of Endor from reaching the Anoat sector's populace,^[3] the Smuggler sent four of their crew members to quietly reprogram Ione's customs droids at the request of Leeka Pali, making the illicit cargo aboard Trade Spine League ships less likely to be noticed.^[2]
