Wow & damn, that is some mighty fine shistuff. My favorite so far. This recording actually surprised me. I don't really know how to explain it, it is simply fantastic.

I got in to Oz Noy by looking for performances by my favorite drummers. Here are three of the best drummers on one very cool album! Oz Noy is the only other thing I can really point to other than Zappa’s amazing “One Size Fits All” album that is Blues Fusion. And Oz certainly has a deep well of tones and techniques. You will absolutely not hear the same style of shredding song after song.
Constantly seeking untapped musical terrain, New York-based guitarist and composer Oz Noy steps onto fertile ground with Snapdragon.
The spry rhythmic wallop that characterized his previous album, the backbeat-driven Booga Looga Loo, remains in full force -- only now welded to an open, bop-inflected chromaticism fostering a more dynamic, searching improvisational energy. Intricately winding unison melody lines spiral out across fatback rhythmscapes, expertly realized by an
impressive cast of soloists and supporting musicians.
Among those stoking the fires of the rhythm section are Dennis Chambers, Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl, Will Lee, James Genus, and John Patitiucci, while Noy trades improvised solos and notated melodies with saxophonist Chris Potter, keyboardists David Kikoski and Jason Lindner, trumpeter John Sneider, guitarist Adam Rogers, and the recently deceased trumpet Wallace Roney, whose subtly blues-tinged solo glides over the nimble rhythmic modulations of “Outer Look.”

I've seen both these musical shamans over the years and think Herring and. McLaughin are the perfect matchup! High octane musicianship! Hoping they will eventually tour again!

Because he is the last great creator/musician/guitarist since Allan Holdsworth
After listening to this release, Fagan should reform Steely Dan with Wayne as cowriter. It would kill. billyp63
