PlayStation 5 Lead Architect Thinks That the Future of Consoles Is ‘Pretty Bright’ - PS5

Mark Cerny, the person who designed PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, has been in the video game industry for a very long time. He started working at Atari in the 1980s and has seen many changes since then. In a recent interview, Mark Cerny talks about how the future of video game consoles looks very good.

According to an interview by the GameIndustry.biz, Mark Cerny states, "I think as long as we continue to create that very nice package, the future of consoles is pretty bright." Mark Cerny further mentions that Sony is not trying to turn PlayStations into cheap PCs. He further points out a video by Linus Tech Tips, in which they tried to 'defeat' the PlayStation 5 by building a $500 gaming PC that was superior.

Console sales are declining day by day, and Sony said PlayStation 5 sales in 2024 won't meet their revised targets. The PlayStation 5 Pro might not change this. Some gamers think consoles could become obsolete in the future. But Cerny thinks consoles are still important and help improve PCs. "I like to think that sometimes we lead the way for the industry, and our efforts help PC gamers too," Cerny stated.

Meanwhile, Sony has removed any mention of 8K display from the PlayStation 5 boxes, a feature they've so far falsely advertised for the PS5 since the console's release in 2020.
