Black Sunrise[]

The Black Sunrise event is an incident in the Guilty Gear timeline where the entirety of the Japanese Island chain was destroyed by the Command type Gear Justice under the control of That Man.

Prelude[]

In the late 20th century, The Original created the Universal Will to ensure that humanity would have eternal happiness. The Universal Will warps its interpretation of The Originals directive, concluding that humans did not yet exist. Thusly, its new goal became creating this new, perfect humanity. The Universal Will attempted to manifest itself into the human world from The Backyard, causing the Dawn of Revival.

After the events of the Dawn of Revival, Gears were first created around 2045, with the first combat models being ready around 2065. That Man was concerned about the massive wars and suffering gears caused, and in 2073 he created Justice, a command type gear.

The Black Sunrise Incident[]

in 2074, Justice was ready for testing. On her first test, Justices mind and body were invaded by the Universal Will which once again tried to manifest into the human world. Justice was not the only target, as the entirety of the Japanese people were also targeted, and, using Justice’s DNA, some were morphed into monsters.

Realizing the impending catastrophe that was unfolding, That Man took manual control of Justice, and fired her Gamma Ray at the Japanese island chain. This vaporized the islands and stopped the Universal Wills manifestation. However, the trauma of this event would shatter Justice’s mind, causing her to go insane and declare war on mankind.

Aftermath[]

With the Japanese subcontinent vaporized, the Japanese who survived migrated into colonies across the world. The incident would morph the Japanese people forever, allowing them to access their Ki more easily and effectively.

Justice would wage war with humanity until her sealing in 2175. Half of her soul would be saved by That Man, which would later be turned into Jack-O Valentine. That Man, for his part, would be labeled as a war criminal and forced into hiding.
