It is a "general-purpose TCG system" that allows players to battle using characters from various worlds, with its different titles having a high degree of compatibility between each other.[2] Its third edition was based on Guilty Gear X, with expansions for Guilty Gear XX and Guilty Gear XX ♯Reload.

Development[]

Japanese card-game company Terranetz[3] released Asura System on December 28, 2000, with the first edition based on the fantasy project Eternal Voice (エターナルヴォイス, Etānaru Voisu?).[1] Shortly after, Eternal Voice's first expansion, Evolution (エヴォリューション, Evoryūshon?), came out on May 25, 2001,[4] Terranetz released the second edition, this time for The Dragonic Trooper Dragoon (竜創騎兵ドラグーン, Ryūsō Kihei Doragūn?), on October 26, 2001.[5] The year after, it was followed by its own expansion, Goddess of Eastern Myth (東方神話の女神, Tōhō Shinwa no Megami?), on June 28.[6]

The third edition was a 153-card set for Guilty Gear X that was released on October 25, 2002.[7][3][8] This was followed by a second Eternal Voice expansion, Templum (テンプルム, Tenpurumu?), on March 20, 2003. That same year, the Guilty Gear X edition received its first expansion, on June 13, titled Guilty Gear XX, which added five new characters—Slayer, Bridget, Zappa, I-No, Robo-Ky—as part of a set of 144 cards.[9]

Asura System's fourth edition set, Αχυσλια (アクスディア神魔戦記, Akusudia Shinma Senki?), was released on January 31, 2004, after some delays.[10] Sometime on August 2004, Guilty Gear X's second expansion Guilty Gear XX ♯Reload was released, consisting of a 144-card set.[11] Next was Eternal Voice's third expansion, Apocalypse (アポカリプス, Apokaripusu?), which was released around December of the same year. Finally, on December 24, 2005, came out Asura System's fifth and final edition, titled Beast's Night (ビーストナイト, Bīsuto Naito?).[12]
