Selected compositions of visionary composer Anthony Braxton are performed by a multi-instrumentalist sextet. The first part of the album focuses on the early pieces (1974-1976) while the second one explores his later work (2003).
<"Imagine an original thinker who insists on explaining his ideas about aesthetics, creativity and his compositional principles, seriously and in detail. His list of publications comprises over 2000 pages. Imagine the same man generously and unpretentiously declaring in the introduction to his Catalog of Works, that all interpreters of his music may make his compositions their own in almost any positive way they wish. The most important thing, he explains, is the creative approach to the material: "Each performance must have something unique. I say take a chance and have some fun."">
Timo Hoyer, author of the book Anthony Braxton – Creative Music (Wolke Verlag, 2021)
"Ferry Good Company is a music ensemble comprised of six musicians hailing from diverse musical backgrounds such as jazz, classical, contemporary, funk etc. This diversity lends to the unique individuality of each musician and contributes to the distinctive sound of the ensemble as a whole. The main musical approach of the ensemble is improvisation, although it also explores a wide range of repertoire including original compositions, arrangements, graphically notated music, pure drone, and more. By exploring an eclectic mix of musical genres, along with experimenting with extreme rhythms, atonal harmonies, diverse timbres, and extended techniques, the ensemble creates expressive and unconventional forms of musical performance, constantly challenging both themselves and the listener's ear."
